The Call2Action Button Comes of Age

Hi Warriors,

Found this nugget of an article while doing some research on effective copywriting. The C2A is such an integral part of successful list-building that I thought it would be worth posting here for others to have a scan through.

  • I already gave you a thanks for the post but this is just a follow up post. Sweet stuff man.
  • While this was a great article to read I found the title
a little deceptive maybe because of my preconceived
    idea of an effective button.

The article was referring to the copy (words) written
on the button rather than design, color and placement.

The article makes a good point but I would hardly refer
to this as the call to action button coming to age.

  • That's what I was thinking Ray. Those buttons are still effective, but I do see the point of better copy on the buttons = better click-through.

    • Hi Ray, Salescopywriter,

Good point and well spotted on both counts. That's why I thought it would be more appropriate in the copywriting forum rather than the design forum. I like how you refer to it as "the sales copy on the button" - i.e. with the implication that any readable words on your page are part of the copy.

      all the best,
      Dee

  • Any word on the page is part of the sales copy. If it isnt', it shouldn't be there.

That's the same thing with the talk about how long is too long for a sales letter...It needs to be as long or as short as it needs to be to sell. If you can sell the product with a paragraph, use it. If it takes a full 4 pages to sell the product, use it.
  • Even Google understands the power of BAB (Big Ass Buttons)
