NLP Copywriting - Persuasion in Copy

I was looking for NLP examples in actual copy earlier and I ended
up with this.

NLP Copywriting Tips: Using Linguistic Binds in Your Ads | NLP Language Patterns for Advertising

The techniques are interesting. Specially the disclaimer at the end
that says "Use this ethically"

Enjoy!

Check out Glenn Osborn (rentamentor)...he's one of the most unusual and effective NLP copywriters around.

His websites are UGLY and WORK.

In her book "Web Copy that Sells", Maria Velosa talks quite a bit about some of the NLP techniques including linguistic blinds.
She also implores the writer to use them for good - and not evil.

I remember Harlan Kirsten coming on here and criticizing Maria Veloso's ideas on NLP copywriting. Something about her idea that tonal shifts can be replicated in print.

One of the main reasons Harland said Maria doesn't know NLP (or how to creatively use it...) is her blatant use of the term "Buy Now!' and "by now" in copy -- which is how NLP copy got a bad rap.

That is not subliminal NLP copywriting. I have her book... So I do know what she wrote about NLP. Harland has been instrumental with my training in NLP and I have several of Harland Kilstein's NLP courses.... These two (Maria and Harland) are a world apart... Harland had was a therapist and hypnosis counselor with ALL the degrees... Maria is just a web developer...

I've used NLP myself verbally in face to face sales. It can be extremely powerful.

It can be very simple to use. When meeting the potential buyer we'd drop the word 'today' as often as possible, the reason being they would have to make a buying decision on the product (timeshare) there and then.

    How are you today
    What are your plans today
    Nice weather today

So simple yet it works, well.

You could also be slightly more creative:

"So, did your family say *goodbye* to you at the airport". A slight pause before and after 'goodbye' would frame the word, the pause would go unnoticed to the conscious mind and it is surprising what you can get away with.

In framing the word 'goodbye', you are also framing 'good buy'. It is something so powerful that the clients often actually say "I think it's a good buy" once the presentation is done.

Definitely something that I would like to incorporate into copywriting but as already alluded to, it should only be used as ethically as possible.

First, I don't like the idea that you can "get away" with something.

Tricking prospects is going to bite you in the butt.

And the good bye nonsense doesn't work in print - at all.

My opinion: NLP isn't very useful to MOST copywriters. They just don't have the depth of knowledge to understand it, and most who try create a "trick" as Harlan stated.

The TWO experts in NLP copywriting circles are:

Harlan Kilstein (excellent course) and Glenn Osborn. Both successful marketers and very good copywriters.
