Phrases like: 'I personally’, 'fairly unique' , and 'at this moment in time' sound worn-out. Don’t you think so?

What are some of the tired phrases you've come across lately?

"Pick up your crap…Take a shower already…Get any actual work yet loser?"

I've been seeing those on sticky notes on my stuff a lot lately...

(That being said, my wife's words are even meaner than my kids'...)

Since you asked in broad terms...

Some of the phrases that are worn out big time in advertising -- mainly in small business advertising are...

    "Great Customer Service"
    "xx Years In Business"
    "Lowest Prices"

These phrases are often used as key lines in small business ads.

Matter of fact -- they're the biggest reasons small business ads suck.

Same old, same old, with nothing to grab the potential customers attention in a world filled with the same old bland attempts.

    "Sincerely" makes me cringe.

"Dear friend," (yeah sure, who are you again?)
"No fluff, no BS". This one is so worn out on me that you'd actually need to write "No fluff, no BS, and even this wasn't BS" or something in that vein.

So what do prefer to use instead of 'Dear friend'?

Something more sincere. In the WSO section "Fellow Warrior" for example. But that is just me. As Mike Humphreys said above, I am not my target market.

I like greetings that address a group. Personally.

Fellow Warriors would work, Hey Everybody would work, Parents would work.

As long as you don't waste any time "zooming in" and creating intimacy...

Most tired cliche of the last decade or more? "Size matters." Ugh! That worn out old thing shows up everywhere.
