My Copy Sucks: Writing copy for a pc repair website...

Hey guys I've been reading these forums for a long time, and really like the information available on here. I have a PC repair business I just opened up, and I launched a website and started doing SEO and a PPC campaign for it.

I have my website setup where each city has a landing page which my SEO and PPC campaigns point to. These are the pages I think I really need to improve the web copy for.

My web site is getting about 40-50 unique a day mostly from the ppc campaign, but I'm only getting about 1 or 2 calls off of it. Which is like a 0.5% - 1% conversion rate which seems really bad.

Here is one of the landing pages:
so cal unlimited dot com/cities/pc-repair-in-yucaipa/

any tips you guys can give me to improve the copy would be greatly appreciated.

    First of all...

...GET RID OF THE DUPLICATE COPY!

Having the same (or virtually the same) copy for different cities is tacky and it'll lower your conversions massively.

This is a perfect case of how SEO and copywriting have a hard time occupying the same space and time.

    Anyway...

In the first paragraph, you're telling me why people use computers.

    Epic waste of time.

    I already use a computer.

    I need your help, right?

Unfortunately, ALL the copy needs to be rewritten, reappointed and re-purposed.

For instance, get rid of the "cities" menu tab and have a proper "services" button.

Start off by telling the customer:

"Computer viruses & spyware are a MAJOR inconvenience!

They harm the performance of your computer and get in the way of your incredibly busy life.

It's a horrible feeling when your productivity is halted and your ability to connect with friends & family gets interrupted...

...But the inconvenience stops there because SoCal Unlimited comes to your Inland Empire home to fix the problem quickly and properly - so you don't EVER have to deal with the SAME computer virus again!

    After all...

Life doesn't stop for computer viruses - so you shouldn't have to either.

We also repair a wide variety of other computer issues including:

***Setting up your NEW computer - allowing you to sit back and relax while we ensure everything is done right the first time, so you get the most out of your investment.

****Tune up your current computer and get rid of anything that might be harming its optimal and maximum performance, especially any hardware problems or security issues.

    The bottom line is...

There's NOTHING we can't fix - and fix right THE FIRST TIME - in the comfort of your own home!

We'll get you reconnected with the world TODAY!"

Okay, that's bad... But you get the idea.

Also, I'd add a well-appointed FAQs page and use that format as a tool to acknowledge people's objections and provide your solutions/responses.

Didn't really read to much of what's there...

...So my point is, you REALLY need to step away from the "content writing" style and move into the sales paradigm.

Wow Mark thanks for the excellent reply. A couple questions.

If I get rid of the cities section how would you recommend doing the seo for my site?
I'm trying to rank for "PC Repair in (City)"

Should I take the time to have the content on each page be different or just scrap that and have one landing page and try to rank for all those keywords?

    Thanks

      1. Create a more tangible brand and identity.
      2. Define that brand identity in your copy.
      3. Focus on crafting SALES COPY and triggering the emotional benefits of a solid running computer.
      4. Hire someone to come in and perform the invisible (meta) aspects of SEO.
But having a list of cities with duplicate copy virtually kills any chance of anyone taking your company seriously.

Besides, how much can your Adwords campaign be costing you?

There's no way you're paying more than 10 cents a click for such a small market in a targeted area.

Just abandon the SEO aspects of your copy and marketing - focus on the sales - drive traffic artificially - then reinvest some of your capitol in a classier kind of SEO...

      ...OR

Take the time to write a blog with the city names integrated into the copy and talk about customer experiences.

This helps you build more credibility, establishes your company as the authority and creates website portals for individual Google page ranks.

Don't look at SEO as an event... it's not.

SEO, when it's done RIGHT, is a process.

Reflection Marketing is spot on. You need to strike up with the thought process the reader's having in his mind. Depending on the keyword, the lenght of your funnel will have to vary.

Let's say my computer is giving me the blue screen error and I search for a blue screen error on google. I find your ad and click. You need to stand out..

Attention! A Blue Screen Error Can Cause Fatal Damage To Your Hard Disk

If your computer is suffering from the infamous bluescreen error, pay close attention here. A blue screen error is blah blah explain a bit of the cause for seo/ppc purposes.

Educate them as to why they need an expert to get the job done. Transition and introduce your PC repair service. Use a call to action.

    Clear out objections

    Reinforce Guarantee

    End with CTA.

That's it. Do it. Once this is successful, create a new variation and run it as a test.
