If you don't have Adobe Acrobat you could also use CutePDF (which is also free to d/l). Once you install it you tell the document to print but instead of clicking ok, you select PDF from the printer selection menu.

      Cheers,

This is what I do. It also give you the option of embedding anchor text... so if you have a table of contents in the pdf, you are able to click the specific chapter or section and go straight to that section. Very handy.

OMG, what you guys (AnachyAds, jgoffshore) suggest is so complicated and time consuming

The easiest way is go to this site "freepdfconvert.com"

Just upload your text file and click "convert" . Bravo ! it's done. It takes only a few minutes.
(don't put your email address there)

          Hope this helps.

Honestly it isn't complicated or time consuming - it really only takes 60 seconds to do.

Open Office, as already mentioned, is easy to convert to .pdf. I also use E-Writer Pro, which is also easy. You can probably find it for free somewhere. If not, I have it with MRR (so I can't give it away outright).

You asked for steps. Once you have the PDF program on your computer, most programs allow you to "file > save as >" and choose the pdf format from the drop down menu. Let me know if you want more specific instructions.

for me, the best tool is your MSWord 2007 itself. In your msword doc, click save as, there is an option to save as pdf or xps. If it is not yet available, download the plug-in from Microsoft for free then install.

I would only caution you to check the size of the final PDF file. Different programs result in startling different file sizes as they don't all use the same method of compressing the file. For example I scanned a couple of pages today - mixture of graphics and text - and the Xerox scanner gave me a file of nearly 2 meg. I opened the PDF file in Acrobat Professional 5 (very old version but better than 6 or 7 which i upgraded to then dumped) and printed the file to Adobe Distiller. The result was a file of 187 kb. Just as good to look at and better when printed out.

I also find that if I save a Word Document (Word 2007 program) as a PDF it is much larger than if I print the same file to Adobe Distiller.

All the programs mentioned will do the job but if size matters to you then check the options and results of software.

You can either buy Adobe Acrobat or download the Free OpenOffice.

I don't recommend PDF Printers cuz they can't identify Hyperlinks unless they are written in http:// format.

Nitro PDF works like a charm. One of the most powerful .pdf editors... specially if you are creating a top-notch eBook product.

googledocs would do, the good thing about it is that you can access the files anywhere online versus a desktop application.

    Thanks
