My First Email Ad; Need Advice Please!

Hello Warriors!
I am about to release my first email ad for a product that I want to send to a targeted email list and I'm freaking out a little. First what do you think about paying for targeted email lists when you are first getting started. I'm thinking of using email-lists.com or targetedaudienceonline.biz which are both opt-in lists.

Also, I need advice on which one of these subject lines is the best for an aphrodisiac usage guide and its companion recipe book:

1. Your sex life could be better with one click...
2. Your sex life is missing one essential element...
3. Do you wish your sex life was better?
4. What would you do for a more enjoyable sex life?
5. You are missing out on a secret that could change your sex life forever!
6. Increase the pleasure of sex 1000 times over!
7. Your relationship could be in jeopardy if you don't know this...
8. Is your sex life less than satisfactory?
9. Increase your stamina and get in the mood for sex in 5 minutes flat!
10. Are you in control of your sex life?

I don't want it to be too spammy and I want to grab their attention so that they open and click through. Thank you so much in advance for your advice and I hope you have a great day!
Frith,
Kayla

Honest answer -- none of the above.

They are TOO similar to stuff I see in my spam in-box. I'd use something interesting and involve the word, "aphrodisiac". And are you SURE they're real targeted lists?

And are you targeting men or women? You need different approaches for the two groups.

Yeah, I think they are pretty predictable too. We will be targeting dating and relationship categories. I have checked the sites out and read reviews and they seem legit...but I don't know anyone who has ever used this tactic before.

This is way too broad hun..

...Dating and relationships are worlds apart.

        Pick a market.

Then you have to decide if you're specifically targeting men or women?

Once you sort that out, identity the biggest problem your solution remedies.

        Fit that into your slogans...

But paint a picture of the exact type of person you're talking to, because that will determine a great deal about the tone and approach you use.

        And PLEASE...

...Get clear before spending a dine.

Quite frankly, I'd never buy a list.

You just have to be extremely specific about the niche you're targeting, the medium you're going to use to capture their attention (e.g. blog, sales letter, authority site, etc)...

...and figure out short & long term marketing strategies (e.g. P.P.C., getting organic listing rankings, building credibility/authority, etc.)

If you go into a project being too broad, you aren't going to have the ability to properly resonate your copy/message.

Are you only sending out one email?

What type of relationship does the broker have with their lists?

Do you have a sales letter we could look at?

Have you built any relationship with your list? and What type of responses have you got? Here's the way to go. It is: Value, Value, Value...Some more value and then SELL.

Narrow down your niche THREE (3) times. For example :
    1. Dating or relationship
    2. Male or female
    3. step-by-step or one time solution
So in the end you have a specific target market group.
    Good luck
