I was reading a issue of
the Gary Halbert Letter today
and he gave some really rad advice.

Certain advice, was some suggested readings.
Now, if you have been around this section of
the forum, or moreover done your research
from any number of the copywriting greats out there...
Then you will be familiar with most of these
suggested readings.

Here they are;


"Scientific Advertising"

John Carlton I know suggests at least half
of these books in his suggested reading list.

Now, first thing Halbert suggests is to read all of these books.
Then, read them again, this time however, you should
make handwritten notes.

After you do that, by Halbert's estimates, you should
have literally HUNDREDS of notes.

He then suggests you track down
the following ads and direct mail pieces;;

"Do You Make These Mistakes In English?"
"What Everybody Should Know About This Stock And Bond Business"

"The Nancy L. Halbert Heraldry Letter"

"How To Burn Off Body Fat, Hour-By-Hour"

"At 60 Miles An Hour The Loudest Noise In This Rolls Royce Is The Ticking Of The Electric Clock"

"Why Men Crack"

"How To Collect From Social Security At Any Age"

"The Admiral Byrd Transpolar Expedition Letter"

"The Lazy Man's Way To Riches"

He suggests you then write these ads down in
your own handwriting. Reasoning that (and there is plenty
of scientific research to back this up) when you write these
things down, you internalize them, and your memory retention
will be far greater than if you just read them.

Solid advice.

The only problem I have, and wouldn't mind some
help from some fellow Warriors...
Is tracking down those ads.

If anyone can help with that and provide the links
in this thread, not only will you help yourself..
But you'll also be helping easily dozens... maybe even
hundreds of other copywriters hone their chops and
better wield the fine art of copywriting.
