Drive-by Copywriting?

Despite many experts predictions about blind copy ads coming demise or extinction, I beg to differ.

I think it all depends on where you look. In some places (or markets) blind ads seem to be growing.

You know, those ads bulging with ...
  • Wall-to-wall Adjectives!
  • Bodacious income claims!
  • Screaming formats!
But refusing to answer the who, what, why or how most prospects need to make intelligent buying decisions.

My question. With more educated, skeptical and cautious consumers, why do so many blind ads still work? Any thoughts, opinions or speculation?

    • A couple of reasons.

They're usually for "get rich quick schemes" and no matter how many times people have been burned they're still desperately looking for easy money.

They live in eternal hope that the next pitch will lead them to their personal nirvana.

It's so cruel when the product/service is just another scam.

Also "blind copy ads" can create an almost unbearable "itch" that the audience just has to scratch.

It's the devastating power of intrigue, mystery and curiosity at full throttle.

Sprinkle a few "blind bullets" in your copy (obviously we're only writing for excellent products) and watch the response soar.

It's true about the 'itch' factor.
It can't hurt to throw in a bit of WTF too.

There is a WSO I saw the other day that got over 3,000 post views from a title of:

"A Tale Of Intrepid Warriors, Good King Allen, And A Magnificent Quest. ARE YOU NEXT?"

It really stood out from all the 'Watch live as I earn a gazillion dollars' typical WSO threads.

I don't have so much of a problem with blind titles or headlines. What bugs me are the 6, 10 or even 12 + blind sales page letters.

Makes me think there may be a need for a "blind sales ad anonymous" or some kind of 12 step program needed for blind sales ad addicts.
