How do you work with royalties?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if royalties still apply for copywriters. I've heard John Carlton say that the money is in the royalties, but I want to know if you ask for a share in the profits when you write a sales page for a product.

And if you do, how much do you usually ask? Is it a percentage thing? Do you go for a specific amount per sale?

Just curious. I got a gig, but I didn't ask for any share on the royalties since I'm super new.

What say you?

I hear the same thing about royalties, but my big question is how to ensure you get your fair share. I'm going to sub to this thread. I hope you get your answers.

One question I still have is - how can the copywriter verify that the client is accurately reporting the sales upon which the royalties are based?
