I am going NUTS - My Email marketing is a total disaster

I started buying some ezine solo-ads, and i had one sent out Friday and a new Ad today.

I made ZERO sales - i am at a loss. In the first one from friday i promoted Mavericks MM., so maybe this was just too oversaturated. I chose another product for today.

For both products (clickbank) i set up a subdomain with a PHP redirect to the original clickbank page. WHY dont i make ONE single sale? Is it my sales copy...what is it? I just dont get it why i suck so much at email/ezine marketing.

Here is the text, i removed my site URLs. I also got advice by a nice lady "Susan" sending out my email, she changed some words to prevent that the mails go right into a spam folder. Their ezine list is only 6000 to "targeted" marketers, but sending out to 6000 on friday (maverick) and 6000 and NO single sales...i just dont know whats going on!! G.

Fellow Marketer,

The Gurus know about this method but they don't tell you. They certainly have a reason:

Ezine Advertising is the Most Powerful Way to increase your lncome!

It does not matter whether you are a "newbie" or a pro in
making m'oney! Not at all! You don't need yo'ur own list. You don't even need a site!

You can promote yo'ur own products or you can pro'fit like crazy with affi'liate programs.

Now there comes this Mr. Page with his (excuse me) bomb of a step-by-step guide, spilling the beans, showing all those resources and AWES0ME tricks how to make A'mazing Results using this method!

I myself was convinced. 100% convinced. This is a solid method, a MUST for everyone who wants to make a living online! I recommend this training to everyone because it is hands-down the best and MOST PR0FITABLE thing that ever came along!

Pay Per Cl'ick and other methods of making m'oney and getting
tra'ffic don't even come close to what you will learn here! You can continue the next few months with whatever methods you use RIGHT N0W - or you can take the route to success at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX RIGHT N0W!

Get guidance from someone who KNOWS his stuff. Learn the tricks the "big names" did not want you to know. Now you can have the advantage with Charlie's course and achieve the same success as the "Gurus" out there. You will understand once you try out this method - I can g'uarantee you will NEV'ER go back!

This here actually provokes an objection:

If it were your own list and you had established credibility they
might go for it. All you have to say here is that you believe
it's a winner. More credible would be to say you have tested
the method and here's how and why it's a reliable, safe way
to make some money for the average person.

The second is just too hard-core hypey sales. People
resent a blatant effort to sell them unless you've already
established credibility so they believe your recommendation
    is in their best interest.

I agree it sounds a bit like hype. I like the calm and subtle "I've tested it and it works, it could work for anyone" vibe.

Loren has a great point. Too hypey. Too many exclamation points. Copy "meanders" and fails to connect.

Also... start with who you're marketing to. Who are the subscribers to this list. How did they subscribe? Are they active readers, regularly opening emails sent to them? What is the average open rate of emails sent to them? Can you confirm deliverability? Can you track open/click-through rates?

What do members of this list want? What kind of products do they buy? Who do they buy from? What kind of experience do they have in this market? (The more experienced the buyer, the less tolerance for empty hype and unsupported claims.)

    Some things to think about.

Just qualifying those on the eZine for your deal will put you in the right direction.

Something like: "If the idea of being fat and yet rich enough to attract all the girls in town scares you, then THIS WEALTH PACKAGE IS NOT FOR YOU! If, on the other hand you are ready to have your financial woes taken care of (and then some) for the coming months, years, and decades, and are not intimidated by online wealth, then click here..." or something like that. I just pulled that out of my arse, but you get the drift. QUALIFY. People have this inherent "need" to feel validated by living up to qualification standards. Try that and see how you go haha

As stated above, both emails read like a pile of unsubstantiated hyped up BS.

If I received either email, I'd unsubscribe from the list immediately. Needless to say I'm not on too many email lists.

These people don't know you, they have no reason to believe anything you say, and you're going strait for the throat...

Even if they did know who you where, there's no presell here, there's nothing of substance that would make me remotely interested in either site.

A friendly recommendation from a trusted source is always going to outperform over hyped junk from a total stranger.

I think Scott's done a mind-meld with the typical jaded internet bizop reader - and the BS tricorder is indeed off the scale. Red Alert! Red Alert! Prepare to fire photon torpedoes!

Instead of the redirect, how about testing a landing page for that specific ezine and offer them some proof of the results you've achieved. Maybe include an offer/gift if they go on to buy from your link.

As far as the copy goes, there are tremendous leaps of faith required to hang onto words like these:

The detailed "M'oney Making" V'ideo Coaching does not leave
any q'uestions open. I am a skeptic myself, but I was 100% convinced after I saw the instructional v'ideos.
What questions were asked and answered?

What are you 100% convinced of? (some of your ezine readers may be running a carefully tuned 'skeptic program' in their subconscious minds at that point which computes as:

      Objection!
"He's 100% convinced himself that HE can make money from it, but he hasn't convinced me."
      Goto Objection!

Maverick is a CB product, yeah?

Most IMers won't buy a CB product thru your link unless you're offering a bonus.

        Period.

They'll buy it through their own link to save the money.

        Why wouldn't they?

So you've tested two ads and two products?

Even before looking at your copy you've got to understand you might have to test TEN different ads for TEN different products before you find something that's profitable.

People want you to believe you just get one product, run an ad and make millions... believe me that doesn't happen often.

Improve your copy as other have suggested, setup testing and tracking, but be fully prepared to put some real WORK into finding a real money-maker.

    1) I guess you're talking about Susan Nichols, the publisher of Interactive Marketing Ezine. On other forums and websites I read only good reviews written by people who bought solo ads in her ezine. [For avoidance of any doubt, she is not a publisher from my ezine advertising network ] Your review is the first negative review I read.

    2) Many Warriors already pointed some facts that you should take into consideration. For example, zapseo said that "Most IMers won't buy a CB product thru your link unless you're offering a bonus." That's very true and I won't repeat in my post what was already mentioned.

    3) What I would like to add is that unfortunately 90% or more of the ezine publishers don't have any clue on how to avoid spam filters and don't use the proper tools for checking this important issue. Reading your ad copy I noticed that Susan is part of this 90 percent.

Your ad copy contains many words intentionally mispelled and this is not the way to go when it comes to spam filters. Some of these words are not even penalized by spam filters (for example the word VIDEO)! On the other hand, some words from your ad copy are penalized by spam filters and are there "untouched" and "shinning" (for example YOUR BOSS).

The problem mentioned above is a factor that always influences your result in a negative way.

    Hi Gang-

I'm brand new here and have a question about this particular problem.

What would be the first step to correcting the copy?

The Headline or the body copy?

    Thanks,

Can you see the inconsistency here? You're promoting an ezine marketing course and you're wondering why your ezine ads are not working. Are you following the "step by step" advice in the course you're promoting? Maybe that's a first stop. If you are and it's not working, then maybe the course isn't one you should be promoting.

Not to be bucket of cold water, but I think that's the first thing you should look at.

As for the rest, like others have said in so many words. Too much hype/unsubstantiated claims. Inject some proof, emphasise USP (ie. what's in there thats different from the rest). If you expect IMers (especially those who've been around for a while) to buy from you and not their own clickbank link, you're going to have to offer some additional value (reason why).

    Good luck!

    Hi GeorG,

Your first pitch, has a confusing headline. Who is your target audience here? You say " The Secret which guru's won't tell you -- Here it is" . Um, there are tons of gurus -- out there. What Kind of guru are we talking about? Adsense? PPC? Video?

Your headline needs to be more clear, and more in tune with your audience.

Also, what is the point of spelling pro'fits, mon'ey, and other words like this? Hype, fancy, clever ads and sales letters don't do much for sales. Now, if your intentions were non of those, then please ignore my statement. But still, it is odd -- for me at least to see words spelled like that.

Your sales letter -- lacks a bit of credibility. If you had a few, short, brief testimonials then people could believe the product, promise more.

    Good luck!
