Hi,

Where can copywriters advertise their services in the hope of finding clients?

Regards

Jim.

  • You can advertise in the WSO or members for hire section of Warrior Forum, AdWords, Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist, buy an ad, local directories, Manta, Linked In, YouTube... the list goes on!

There's one guy who created this really funny Craigslist ad where he'd do anything for $100,000...

    It went viral.

I believe he sold copywriting services after that. :-)

Are you looking to buy an ad or do free advertising?

    • For the last two years, on a part time basis, I have been doing Internet Marketing. During this period tonnes of articles have been written and I suspect, it has improved my writing skills.

For the last 8 years, I have been occupied as a Sales Representative and given the writing and sales combination, becoming a Copywriter seems a good fit. Only written one sales letter, that was to sell a website on flippa and I think, it was a job well done. I will start by setting up a website offering services and go on from there.

      Thanks for all the advice.

  • Do article marketing writing articles and press releases, and submitting them to websites, directories, ezines, blogs (such as guest blogging), and article repositories, is an excellent way to get examples of your work in front of your target market and establish your expertise.
  • Odesk.com
    Guru.com
    Freelancer.com

and of course here on the WF!
  • Adwords is good.

I just went to Google and keyed in "Copywriters". Only one of the ads I saw was worth a lick. It wouldn't be tough to stand out with your own ad.

  • You can put an ad on here but there are dozens of writing forums all over the internet and a simple search will produce a few.
  • On a local level, it's pretty easy to build a website, google place page and come up #1 on local searches in your area. Takes a couple months max if you know what you're doing.

    • You recommend any courses for someone completely unfamiliar with google places if I want to try your strategy?

  • You could try on outsourcing sites like odesk
Or you could even advertise on blogs, forums, etc.

Pardon me for asking the most obvious question...

How can you position yourself as a start-up copywriter, a conversion or persuasion expert, a marketing consultant for others if you can't even or don't know how to attract clients to yourself?

  • In addition to the above, you can also set up a google alert for "copywriting jobs" or "copywriting services" etc google then sends available copywiting jobs into your gmail account. this you can then follow up on.
I wish you all the best.

    Kind Regards
  • Perhaps this isn't as much 'advertising,' but I've found my greatest resource in securing new gigs is in networking groups. Get out in your community and join the chamber of commerce, or do a few BNI meetings (they only allow one of each type of business into a group), or even find a Meetup in your area.

Just because you work online doesn't mean your advertising ends there.

    Best,
    Erin
