What is the Very Best Copywriting Course

Hi all

Having come from a sales training background I have always been interested in how words (spoken or written) can influence the behaviour of others.

In my quest to research further I am looking for a top-notch copywriting course.

To clarify I am not looking for some $29 ebook but a fully-comprehensive course/mentorship from a highly recommended and respected copywriter.

Does anyone know of a such a course?

    I haven't done all the courses, but if I was to recommend teachers whose courses you can still get, it would have to be Drayton Bird or John Carlton. Or both.

    Anything by them would benefit you.

    And if you want coaching, you can try Raydal on this forum.

    There are others, but these are the ones who I know for certain are still offering courses.

    That subject has been debated quite a few times here. Using the Search function at the forum level for "best copywriting course" will turn up a few helpful threads on the subject. The answer also depends on your budget, specific area of focus, and author personality/teaching approach preferences.

      I agree with Steve on this.

      Everyone who knows copywriting knows the two guys I've mentioned and their quality. They are among the best in the world.

      If you're really serious, don't wait for any other responses. You'll just get confused.

    I would also recommend Karon Thackston. Her site is http://www.copywritingcourse.com. She is well respected in the copywriting arena. Her course covers a lot of ground.

    Look up Clayton Makepeace's Ultimate Desktop Copy Coach...it's my personal favorite. It may cost you a pretty penny but it will slash atleast a years worth in the learning curve...

    Here is the thing though - if you choose to get this program, then try to stick with similar styles of WRITING. Not all copywriters have the same style of writing, some like small headlines and more deck copy, while others may prefer benefit/emotion headlines with no deck copy.

    Later on of course, you can look at other courses but just keep that in mind.

      Agreed - it's best to pick one system, stick to it, master it, then move onto others.

      That's why it is so important to make sure the author's copywriting style matches your personal writing preferences.

      James, if you like his style of writing, Clayton Makepeace's Quick-Start Copywriting System (formerly aka Ultimate Desktop Copywriting Coach) is excellent. You can search the forums here for those two terms for more information.

    You're not going to be better than 95% of the writers out there simply by studying a few courses. No matter how good those courses are. Get a coach. That's the only way to catch the mistakes you make. It's impossible to be objective about your own copy. That's why all the masters strongly urge you to do copy crits with other copywriters. I am biased. But I would strongly recommend Mike Humphreys.

    The best one is the one that gets you writing your own
    copy on a regular basis and improving.

    Practice is valuable. Get mentoring or work in a supervised
    copy chiefed situation if you can find an arrangement that makes
    sense for you.
