Unreal! It's hard to believe I actually remember some of these ads, especially the Love's Baby Soft one.

    Interesting share Rick~

"Une femme, une pipe, une pull" - translated from the French means "A woman, a pipe, a pullover" BUT..."pipe" (peep) in slang means "blowjob".

From your "advertisements that wouldn't be allowed today":

Maybe not, but it's OK for magazine covers (faux fold-out cover is mine):

Breastfeeding is coming back and with a bang. I would hardly consider breastfeeding to be provocative. In fact, it all depends on who is viewing the ad and how the other perceives it.

Other countries other rules. Europe is very open and women topless in commercials on TV is normal. The company Fa did commercials for Duschgel shower lotion with topless women for years. The French are always topless... Isn't it nice. And the Iatlians, Dutch and northern countries use it all the time. It is normal.

I am Setting up an international community for marketers in over 50 countries as I have been doing international Business negotiations or global BN for years. Maybe we could do something interesting ads ;-)

I Look forward to seeing you there all soon. Membership will be Free with paid options as well. Will be released in June 2012 also here on Warriorforum.

Somebody want to explain what happened to the kid with the Pears' Soap? And how that's supposed to be good?

Quite a few "OMG" moments with these. Women are for cleaning and cooking, treat them like crap, they should stay around the house, can't drive etc. Scary to think these really aren't very old.

And remember, kids: you can't beat the Axis if you get VD.

Here's another funny ad from a somewhat obscure UK book about the story behind the vacuum cleaner and other labor saving machines around the house. It's full of old ads, and is called "Suck, don't Blow!" I guess they didn't quite grasp the implications of the dual meaning in the ad.

I honestly can't believe that people would pay to have these be shown in public. That's a little ridiculous.
