What is the Fastest way to learn how to write Acceptable copy?

What's the rush? Developing skills takes time. There are lots of ways you can learn. You can read ebooks, You can practice. You can do courses but none of these ways are "fast." If you need "fast," hire someone who already has the skills.

It depends on your definition of acceptable. I consider myself a beginner (maybe an advanced beginner).

Gary Halbert wrote a letter answering the question "Can you make me into a world class copywriter in just 30-days?" (Google it.)

I don't think you'll be world class or even as good as some of the copywriters in this forum who aren't world class but certainly aren't beginners if you actually practice the curriculum Gary presents in the letter.

But it will probably skip you ahead a few months in terms of copy education if you adhere to the letter as I did for at least a few weeks (I blazed through most of the books and rewrote every ad in about 3 weeks, now I'm rereading the books).

If you want a copy boost within a week or so, read a few great ads that fit the niche and the customer you are writing for and go off that or even read some great ads that might suit you and fit the description of your clients or customers in general. I don't recommend copying and just changing the words, as that won't really make you a better copywriter, but using them as a compass will.

Have a look at Bob Serling's "Power Copywriting For The Internet", it's a fairly easy to follow 32 step guide. As long as you do what he says you should come up with something that's good enough.

If you have an aptitude for writing it will take you as long as it would take someone with an aptitude for music to play "acceptable" tunes on a piano, guitar or some other instrument. You can't rush it.

And since no one else has mentioned it, another route is to swipe copy from promos in your niche that are acknowledged winners and adapt them to your piece.

Notice I said "adapt." It's not only immoral, but illegal by copyright law, to outright copy verbatim another writer or marketer's work.

You said you were in a hurry, this is the quickest way to get where you say you need to go.

Alternatively, you (unless unusually talented) would face spending many hundreds (or thousands) of hours learning to write selling copy on your own.

"Acceptable copy". Sure dude. Easy. Just write like you're talking one-on-one with your best mate.

Get a copy of "Dragon Naturally Speaking" (PC) or "MacSpeech Dictate" (Mac) and just K.I.S.S. - keep it stupid simple. Bit like this post. Short simple sentences. Tell us what you have. What it does. Why our miserable lives will be so much better if we have one too...tell us the price...tell us where to get the sucker. Get all that done.

Oh yeah...keep in a few of the "um"..."ar"..."come to think of it"..."and I'll tell you the rest of the story in a minute" bits.

I could tell you a whole heap more. But this will get you "acceptable copy".

But you better be quick because there's been a run on this...some cat posted on YouTube and now everybody wants one.
