Haw Meny Homofone Misteaks Kan Yoo Zpot?

Hey Guys,

I received this poem recently in John Forde's newsletter. It's riddled with incorrect homophones and quite hilarious to read.

Since there's been some discussion recently about grammar and spelling etc. I thought it's worth posting this.

So without revealing what they are, see how many homophones you can spot which have been used incorrectly. Please post how many you found.

The Spell Checker Poem

Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.

Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.

Eye have run this poem threw it
I am shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.

Sorry, to be more accurate, it's not so much spelling mistakes. It more about the incorrect use of homophones.

P.S. I've edited the O.P. to reflect that.

I noticed 47 in a quick review, but it depends because some single words have been homophoned into two words. It is pretty funny.

Definitely 40+. Incredible for such a short piece.

Agree with Steve - didn't know whether to count some of the ones that were split into two as one or two homophones.

I counted 46 when counting each incorrect homephone individually...

and 37 if each pair of incorrect homephones is taken as one correct homephone.

    Hope that's not too confusing.

I'm not getting either of those numbers. I hate this game.

The italized text is what I think the poem says.

The numbers below the poem's words are homophones I guess?

    Am I doing it right?

Well done Calhoun! Good analysis butt yew let tha kat owt tha bag!

Anyway, that's exactly how I counted it but...

If you count pairs of incorrect homephones like "pea sea" which is supposed to be P.C. (personal computer) as one then I got 37.

P.S. In the 1st verse 3rd line," revue"= review and in the 2nd verse last line "rare lea" = rarely
