What is in it for the collector? Except a lot of travel experience and expenses? Where is the hook, the incentive to make someone sitting on the fence decide to do it?

Save them some money, give them some price, something.

If there is no advantage in collecting other than owning the wooden things, you may have problems getting people to do this.

It's hard to know what the game is all about from your brief description. Who exactly are you targeting? And like Olav pointed out, what is the benefit to the collector ("discover a new collectable passion" is not very compelling). What is the ultimate goal for the player? Are there prizes to be had? Prestige? Excitement? Lots of fresh air?

Anyone working on descriptive text for your product would need more information than you've provided - an in-depth explanation of how the game works would be a good place to start.

If you haven't heard of geocaching, I recommend you look into it. Their travel bugs are a similar idea to what you have, except the idea is NOT to keep the travel bugs and instead send them around the world via different hiding places.
