The billboard that almost killed me....

hey copy warriors.

So the wife and I almost died the other day when I barely missed crashing into an 18-wheeler because of the billboard like this one here:

The billboard we saw was a little different. It was heading to palm springs.

Anyway, the site is
Fight & Beat Speeding and Red Light Traffic Tickets in California - With the Original Ticket Busters

I think any copywriter/marketer can take away some killer ideas by modeling the elements of this site.

There's over 20 elements I see clearly working here.

Tell me what you see, and maybe Ill tell you what I see here that makes this site work really well.

I'm waiting.

Adam.

    I eagerly await responses.

But as an attorney who has successfully fought a couple tickets in CA (and for some reason also witnessed his whole in-law family receive tickets in the past two months) I find it kind of funny the credibility booster to the right where it says "Trial By Written Declaration has been seen on ..."

I find it funny because it doesn't say the website has been on all of these sites, but only one of the methods they will recommend. A law firm can't get away with that (State Bar) but these guys probably can.

Anyway, I think that was pretty funny and cool because I'm am currently compiling credibility boosters myself for such a widget.

Yeah, it's a social proof technique commonly used when there are no testimonials available.

Ok just for fun, here's what I see as "working".

-phone number at the top. big, bold and adds credibility. Unfortunate that they misspelled "we'll" with "well". or did they?

-big fat query form above the fold. no clicking, no messing around. probably increased conversions no end I would think.

-big promise = "we get your traffic ticket dismissed. no fines, no points, no worries" = good.

-Comment from LAPD saying "this is a better option than going to court" is smart. Even though he's not saying the service is neccessarily brilliant, for many people, if a police officer saying "do this", they probably will.

-credibility indicators above the fold too. CNN, NBC, etc

-they have a basic "money back guarantee" if your ticket isn't sorted, which is good. But they do have T&C's attached to that. I'd think that would work better for them for it to be a "unconditional, no questions asked, 100% money back guarantee". Maybe even go as far as a "120%" money back guarantee. Refunds may cost a little more but, atleast potentially, the increased conversion may make it worth it.

-the menu bar on the homepage is quite good. "how it works", "our guarantee", "testimonials" are all things the end user wants to know. None of this "about us" nonsense.

-lots of testimonials, which is good.

All in all a pretty decent job.

So, copyassassin, what did you see/think?

They do a good job of targeting their audience. It is just for California drivers and that is alluded to in the banner, in the sub-headline and twice more in the copy.

Even the graphic of the cop is in the uniform California highway patrol officers wear.

There is a link in the right hand corner for a Spanish version and that is written in Spanish.

They use the color red at key places.

They repeat the headline of the billboard, it even has the same background.

The pic you posted has been Photoshopped. The actual one probably exists on the 710, but the pic you posted has been enhanced. Not sure why they couldn't take/use a real pic.

That sort of direct and bording on rude statements are popping up all over, in Australia there is one for the mens enhancing and its just as bad and tasteless, it is up and down on the Pacific Motorway between Gold coast and Brisbane and they have a few, so it must work to some point.
