You Are Feeling The Urge To...

I just saw this video from some top marketers. You'll have to click the play button once the window opens.

It's an exit pop-up type video to the main offer which was a set of PLR reports you can see here.

It's designed to get the change the buyer's mind if they leave the main page.

Below it this order button was attached:

Check out the copy below the words CLICK TO ORDER NOW.

Reverse psychology at its finest?

I thought it was quite funny and was wondering if any of you have used something like this before?

If so what kind of conversions did you get?

(Disclaimer: I am not an affiliate for this offer)

I haven't used this sort of "technique" before for the very reason you mentioned... it's not serious. We've all heard that "nobody buys from clowns," and to me, this sort of method would be a turn-off since it comes across as goofy. If the seller isn't taking the process seriously, why should I? The phrasing on the button itself is also quite awkward.

I couldn't watch the video, so maybe he did a better job of hooking people there... but I'd be surprised if it performed well.

Thanks for your input but it's worth watching the video 1st, all the way to the end disclaimer message.

It's just 1 minute long and VERY catchy.

I'll admit it's a gimmick and a bit of fun but this drops people's guards and they'll probably buy because of the joke element.

BTW, these clowns just happen to be Simon Hodgkinson and Jeremy Gislason. Look them up sometime.

I'd say they're doing pretty well as clowns.

The offer was also promoted by a very respected marketer by the name of Klein.

All right, got the chance to watch the video. Still not impressed. What was this even selling? I did check these guys out and it sounds like they have a lot going for them; Simon's ebooks club has a nicely crafted, clean landing page, so it surprises me even more that they'd do something like this during a downsell (arguably one of the hardest times to get someone to change their mind).

Don't get me wrong, I hate to be a killjoy. The vid is amusing, but I still say that even successful marketers have their moments...

Ok, I just found the link to the main offer.

The video is designed to act like an exit pop-up to get the prospect to change their mind if they leave the main sales page for any reason.

Yes it is a bit of a joke but that's intentional.

Here's the main offer page. (Disclaimer: I am not a affiliate for this)

So now, what do you think of the main offer and the exit pop-up video strategy?

      Still not impressed?

Hmm. I would think it was clever if they were marketing a NLP or hypnotic copywriting course, since that would obviously link back (at least tangentially) to the products they were selling.

You're definitely a good spokesperson for them, I'm just stubborn! If you had navigated off the page with no intent of buying, would that video change your mind?

This is the 1st time I've seen a video like this being used as an exit pop-up strategy.

I think they're testing it out to see the kind of response they get.

I quite like it and that damn video is so catchy it's been playing over and over in my head since I first heard it.

If I had the need for a set of reports like that, then yes, that video would change my mind.
