Sometimes you just need to change the medium Michael.

Stay on the Internet long enough and it's enough to drive any creative, emotional, highly passionate writer stir crazy.

The majority unable any longer to think for themselves, to think creatively, to express an original opinon of their own - so brainwashed are they by the shallow system of entertainment (constantly self-masturbating the next quick rush for the audience / the masses) they, the audience, by and large will always feel this need to compartmentalize everyone else around them, who they perceive subconsciously to be a threat to their safe model of thinking or programming. Stuck in their comfort zones - as they are.

If you're not inside 'their' box, you're a threat.

If you're not on their level, you're a threat to their very existence.

Their limited self knowledge fed non-stop with the same regurgitated crap all day sooner or later has an effect on their mind.

Worse, those born in the last 20 years or so have never known anything different. This is all they understand. All they know. For to break out by their definition is to touch insanity itself. Not realizing their own 'unsanity' is actually part of the actual problem.

...everything today is ridiculed. Reduced.

The magic in life (online) is stripped bare. Suddenly everyone's an expert. Read a short book on anything in 5 minutes and suddenly everyones this leading anonymous 'authority' lost in a fog of meaningless drivel, countless words bereft of true meaning.

Along comes a true shaman, his knowledge, his self awareness no longer counts for what it once represented. Robbed of his community. Torn asunder by the general populace they forcibly tell him repeatedly that he's a blathering idiot not understanding how 'things' (just things) work in a real world where storytelling and shared common experience is no longer respected.

It's going to, sadly so, it's going to induce depression in anyone. I truly feel for you Michael.

Rick gave you some superb advice above. In essence, try on a new pair of glasses. Adopt a new eyesight. Adopt a new vision. Adopt a new way of seeing. Perceiving perception of the world around you.

We all create 'filters' through which to understand and make sense of the world surrounding us. To help the exterior fit comfortably with the interior workings of ourselves and assign words to this process in order to disseminate what's going on into some kind of logical order which we can personally dissect and make sense of. But...

...but if we change the view, a whole different kind of magic enters directly into our lives. And as writers, when we do this, we take our writing, our spelling off in new exciting and exhilarating directions.

To use a metaphor, think of life like a giant fairground with lots of little souls visiting the fairground that 'day'. There are all sorts of rides the souls can enjoy, hop onto and hop off at random.

And sometimes you can be on a ride in the fairground of life and the ride (the journey) isn't particularly pleasant. In fact, it can often feel like you're going around and around in vicious circles.

Just remember... only you choose which ride/s you want to go on.

If you want to experience something new and magical, life changing, jump off the ride you're on and put yourself in the position of choosing whichever other fairground ride you want instead. A ride (a life experience) which truly fulfills your innermost dreams and desires.

You're only alive for a relatively short while. In the meantime...

...between this space of non-existence and non-existence - being born and dying, you just want to pack in as much happiness as possible. Both for yourself and sharing this amongst other people. What other goal is there?

As a good friend of mine, a psychologist once said to me, "Mark just be."

Writing... if you don't like the mold, break it, be free of your chains. Strike out for freedom and enjoy a new found journey of choice and possibility. It's completely up / down to you. You're in control. Step sideways.

Abandon, ditch that which is causing you dis-ease, uneasiness and align yourself with forces by reflexive adaptive means which deliver for you what you truly want out of life. Out of your written communication. Your magic.

Live in the choice. In the moment. Just be.

Love the contradiction. The duality.

Switch on. Switch off.

Be whatever you want to be, either one or the other or both at the same time.

Writers. Fiction. Made up. Magical other verses. Inter-verses. Universes. Whatever you want to create and feel, your magic, your sense of prose, taste, savor the moment... your life is eternally up to you.
