I prefer where the split tester gives reasons why a change is made, based on a underlying principle that can be used again, and then results are shown.

Whichtestwon.com does this sort of testing:

      The World

Although it is a paid site, if on their mailing list they do offer freebie light case studies on a regular basis. You can vote for which version you think is best, then they'll show the actual A/B test results.

While opinions may vary about why one version beat the other, the results do speak for themselves.

You are going to be hard-pressed to find that sort of information.

In the real marketing world, campaigns are run, sometimes with split testing, and then analyzed after-the-fact.

      Sadly, this is the norm.

If you want to see tests that give results in terms of "underlying principles," you are going to have to shell out for some marketing publications.

Alternatively, date a college girl and get access to her university's library.

    Pretty good stuff.

In my opinion, the best way to write a landing page for a big brand company is with "disguised direct response"; i.e. visually appealing sales pages that present the same information in chunks that a sales letter would deliver in a linear format.

I think that's what the most effective of these landing pages are essentially doing.
