I have a newbie question

I have been introduced to this website:

Advanced Marketing Institute - Headline Analyzer

I have been using it to generate headlines. I have been using only the ones I think of that rate over 50%. Seems to work???

Does anyone use this tool? Is it worth my time?

Thanks Cindy

I use it for article writing, to get the headlines, and it has been working really, really well. I aim for the headlines with the highest scores, 40% , 50%, or sometimes even higher, but I' take anything with a score of 30% or so.

When I first put in the headline, to analyze it, if it is 50%+ great! But if not I'll try a few other headlines, after a few it just isn't worth it to sit there for an hour or two trying to get a better score when you already have a 37% (or something like that)

I just checked one of my headlines in it and it gave me a: Your Headline's EMV Score:
          55.56%

So I guess thats pretty good eh?

WOW I change a few words and got a 61.11%

I wonder just how true this is?

Anyone have anything to comment about this site?

            Well...

I don't know how good it is at predicting what will and will not work in the "real world", but the headline I just put in came back 100%. <shrug>

Not sure how accurate this tool is, but it seems nice for someone new in the game.

I put in a couple headlines I have used in some articles and sales pages. I got a 62.50 on one, a 60 on another, and an 80 on the last.

If this is fairly accurate then I am glad I am doing something right. If the tool is BS then, well, I still think I have some good headlines

    Thanks for sharring the tool.

I think it is productive to find individual words or phrases that rank high using this system. The example above shows that some scores are just an average of the raw percentages of the individual words, yet adding the word "absolutely" creates a score greater than the average, which would otherwise be 75%. I think this is good for analyzing final copy, but not in choosing between options.

I love using this tool. To be honest, I've never tested the results I got from it, but it makes sense.

Are there more sophisticated programs like this that could analyze the headlines AND the body?

I use Glyphius. Glyphius actually calculates your score based off of data taken from proven profitable ads (basically copy, that's been proven to work.)

I know that Eric Graham (a.k.a. the Conversion Doctor) uses it. In 2007 he did 181 split-tests and Glyphius predicted the winner 70.1% of the time.

You should check it out. I think it's an excellent tool.

      Take care,

      Rebecca

I too use Glyphius. It is a bit pricey but I have found it to be pretty reliable. I have split test using different headlines and the ones Glyphius scores the highest have performed better about 80ish% of the time.

Glyphius gives you a numeric score for the headline you enter. It can be a little adicting like a vidoeo game you just keep trying to get a higher score and remove negative keyworks. I am not sure what a good or "accpetable score" is - in basicly lets you compare which headline you have entered is the best.

Thank you Rebecca and Michael--I'll give that a whirl for sure.

          Cheers!

This tool -- merits, deficits, etc., was discussed over in the "old" copywriting forum of the "old" warrior forum.

If you want to know more, you might try either doing a forum search on the old forum, or using google site search on the warrior forum for the discussions.

Glyphius has some strengths ... and some weaknesses.

One of Glyphius' strengths is that it helps you jam in a lot of meaning in few words. It helps you to tighten up your headlines (and subheads, and the like. I know people who have taken it to every sentence in their salesletter. I think that might be tool abuse, LOL. Seriously. Pithy is good, but too much pithiness can create inappropriate and unhelpful tension in the reader. Sometimes you want them to relax. )

I think it's a fun tool to play with for the reasons I've stated.

Many copwriters tend to take a "walk in the park" so leisurely, the reader falls asleep before the writer gets to the point.

Hmm.. a software wouldn't know what is a good headline anyways . Good headlines are a matter of human taste and can't be just programmed or so I think .
