Million Dollar Mailings - quick question...

So, I just got Million Dollar Mailings in the mail this week.

How do you guys read this thing? With a magnifying glass? lol...

Looks to be jam packed with ads, but printed really small...

So seriously, did you guys use a magnifying glass or what?

I'm trying to decide on getting that or a pair of reading glasses...

I have actually not been using my copy of Million Dollar Mailings since the print is so small.

Fortunately, I use the Gary Halbert Motherload, Eugene Schwartz ads, and other sources as my swile file.

I think it's worth squinting, but some I can't even read. My vision kinda stinks...

It IS small - one thing I've found useful for reading this book is one of those plastic full-page magnifier sheets.

Often the ad's text can be found elsewhere, and the book's value is in how it presents the full mailing package (envelope, typography, layout, etc.).

I thought it was interesting that Boardroom "Declined to reveal" the writer for the "What Never to Eat on An Airplane" ad in the book. It's credited elsewhere to the secretive copywriter Mel Martin, Boardroom's "secret weapon."

Some other Mel Martin ads are available as a pdf for your swipe files: http://www.infomarketingblog.com/How...Prospects_.pdf

  • Hi Steve,

That is a truly amazing swipe file!

When I first got it I couldn't believe (and still can't) just how good Mel Martin's bullet writing was.

Or as they were known at the time "fascinations."

I think Lawrence at info marketing still does a bigger swipe file of Mel's Ads - 40 pages of pure magic - it's well worth getting hold of them.

Mel's Bottom Line Personal ads were great for bullets too. I didn't find Lawrence's Mel Martin package separately this time, but apparently it is included in his his Ultimate Online Swipe File subscription site.

Lawrence is really good at locating and archiving rare, hard-to-find ads! He's got another (free) swipe file of 127 Eugene Schwartz headlines that's also well worth tracking down for study.

Eugene Schwartz's ads are a great addition to your swipe file as well.

You can a Schwartz ad package at hardtofindseminars.com. Sign up for his list...sometimes he sells them at a great discount.
