Call to Actions

A copywriters main goal is to entice a reader to ACT--to take that next step towards purchasing whatever it is you're selling.

How do you come up with your call to actions? Is there a resource you go to above all others?

And, do you find that free offers promote action the best?

  • You're so right. *Edit: Calls to Action
  • You can find good calls to action in successful ads and sales letters.

Go to Lawrence's infomarketingblog.com and you'll find a number of excellent sales letters and ads.

Study and model the calls to action in these ads and sales letters.

  • It's not quite one resource to rule them all, but this is a decent guide:

Yes, it's usually easier to sell a free offer than a paid one.
  • Think in terms of your audience. What action do they need to take that'll make THEM happy and of course..YOU happy too
  • The basic format for a great Call to Action is:

    1. Tell the prospect what you want them to DO in simple terms.
    2. Don't assume anything--imagine they are kids--"Click the blue button,
then download then report, open with PDF reader etc."
    3. Let them know what would happen when they take the desired action.
    4. Let them know how EASY it is to take the desired action.
    5. Tell then what would happen [BENEFITS] when they take action.
    6. Remind them that they need your product more than you need the money.
    (Not directly, but through implication.)
    7. Remind them of your after sale support.

    • This is so true, I can't tell you how powerful this one is.

When you can genuinely show you don't need their money and that they need your product more, they WILL act, every single time.
  • A good way to research calls to action in your niche that work well is to check out PPC landing pages in your space. If people are paying for ads to direct people to their listed actions they are probably getting results.
