Your opinion on giving samples...

Howdy folks...

I was wondering who likes to show samples of their letters, and if any of you don't?

I've never had a need to since most of my clients have been word of mouth, so I was thinking of this hypothetically.

My opinion is, I can show solid proof of selling over 20mm in product therefore I know my stuff. So if I can prove that then why would anyone need a sample?

Plus, if you're hiring a copywriter that means you probably don't know good copy when you see it. You just have to know your copywriter has the chops.

With this in mind, one thought I had is would people want samples just so they can swipe it?

    I know that some copywriters do not post their portfolio
    online but only send it to a client when requested, but
    I do post mines.

    Clients do want to know if your writing fit them even
    if they do not understand how to analyze a sales
    letter. Really the selling should have been done in
    your sales letter which advertises your service
    but most clients want to know that you have
    no only written other sales letter but one as
    close as possible to the one they need.

    I wouldn't worry about a client swiping my
    letters as this type of client would not be
    my ideal client anyway. If someone don't
    want to pay for your service s/he will find
    a way to get around that.

    Plus, how many great sales letters out there
    I have learned from, so it's now my time to
    contribute.

    I would have a sales letter put together specifically for convincing them for your service, but in a subtle way... hard to explain what I'm trying to say.
