Learn some basic BJJ. Gracie Breakdowns on YouTube are really cool too.

I'd also watch the first UFC. Royce Gracie won with BJJ, and was probably the smallest (weight) fighter in the competition.

Not the same as BJJ, but you might get some cool copy ideas. Also, BJJ is huge now because of the UFC. So the market might be quite crowded. You need to come up with something super unique.

From what I can tell this is a whole product based on multiple variations of a single submission. This would be for high-level guys.

Not sure why it has anything to do with his marketing...

But the story about his two students raping a girl in a parking lot IS current. As in, happened in 2013, and there is video evidence of it.

But surely, a teacher can't be responsible for everything their students do on their own time. That certainly isn't fair.

(Btw, the female victim is a high-level BJJ competitor herself.)

Still, Lloyd Irvin is a brilliant marketer. The actions of a few students in a high-testosterone sport shouldn't take away from the fact that he's the guy to study here.

Yes, you're right, it has nothing to do with marketing so I have no idea why he posted it.

Nor does Lloyd Irvin's students being involved in rape have anything to do with Lloyd Irvin.

Im not sure that its been confirmed that it is the same Lloyd E. Irvin Jr. But since they attended the same school and are of same age, it is assumed they are one in the same.

Also, Mark Ford (aka Michael Masterson) used to have copy cubs train BJJ to weed out folk who weren't competitive. So the story goes, anyway. So one of my buddies who trained with Ford (fighting and copywriting) is big into BJJ.

This site isn't much unless you sign up, but Eddie Bravo at Home | 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu is very interesting.

He's carved out a cult-like following amongst people rejecting the traditional gi BJJ (the uniform they wear, like Karate pyjamas) and he does 100% No-Gi (typically rash guard and shorts, you're not allowed to grab the uniform in No-Gi).

His followers are the most intense and loyal of any in BJJ, they throw up the '10' gang sign in podium photos, and they have managed to survive the constant abuse and belittling from a lot of traditionalists in BJJ (largely Brazilians).

Lloyd seems to be the big dog in the marketing department of that world to be sure. The guy I'm working with is actually in Lloyd's mastermind for gym owners, and he's also going to be at his four day long Internet Marketing event from tomorrow till sunday.
