People trying to read copywriting books, PLEASE STOP!

Get TheGaryHalbertLetters, available free on the internet. Follow The Exercise Diligently:

#1: Print One Letter Each Day.
#2: Read and Re-read The Letter. Understand Why Gary Wrote The Letter.
#3: Get A Nice, Metallic, Shiny Expensive Pen...and some paper.
#4: Copy The Letter By Hand. Writing With Your Hands Has Something To Do
With The Brains.
#5: After Each Paragraph, ask yourself "why is this paragraph so important? how has this paragraph earned its position in this copy?". Allegedly Frank Kern does it,...well he does a version of it along the lines "Who Gives A Fock!"

After Doing The First 50 Letters, You Can Go Reading Any Dan Kennedy, Collier, Gary, Carlton...any of the stuff...

NOTE: COPYWRITING BOOKS ARE OF NO USE IF YOU CAN'T WRITE!
Copy word for word, don't change anything. You're learning from the master.
This is the shortest, easiest path to becoming a copywriter. Reading books alone won't get you anywhere.

Note: This Is In Reference To The Whole 'A Copy' Scandal!

  • This is a great exercise but I'm more of a new generation type of person. I've downloaded sales videos and then paused them so I could transcribe the words. Then, I read it back to myself.

I wouldn't wanna hurt my hands trying to write a sales letter. Typing works better for me. Just my .02

  • Dude that was awesome and so true. Gary Halbert's copywriting is top notch and always makes you feel something when you read his words. Writing them down by hand and asking yourself the question, is a great technique for getting better copywriting skills.

  • I read somewhere that many of the world's top copywriters started out like this by writing word for word all the books and salescopies of other masters.

    • This is rock solid advice. I remember when I started doing this and noticed how my writing changed drastically after just 7 days or so.

I am a huge social science nerd and have read quite a few ancient tomes of political theory in my days... which meant that my writing was deadly dull and very authoritative, with advanced words and concepts.

Writing down Halberts letters really helped me adapt to different audiences. 100% worth every hour.
