Using humour is a risky business. Most people either don't have a sense of humor or just don't understand jokes.

Get some split testing software (or just Google Optimizer) and stick with anything that's most effective.

I think it has a lot to do with the circumstances, topic and who the person is (in this case you). If you're a no body (no offense of course) then people will think of it as BS. If you're someone like say Frank Kern, it works perfectly.

However, to help make the page look better, I'd suggest having color on the sides of your content so the eyes can focus more easily towards the content. Plus, it just looks more serious and professional. As it is now, it looks very thrown together and people aren't going to take it seriously, unless they know exactly who you are and know that your reports are always good to read.

If guys like Mike Filsaime or John Reese released something like this, then people would grab it regardless, but you're not them. You have to make it look as professional as possible without going overboard.

I just gave this advice to someone else, but if you plan on using AdWords, consider adding a link for privacy policy and contact page.

And hey, try to make a serious squeeze page as well. Do a split test to see which ones perform better. You'll have your answer.

I personally think that your squeeze page is nice and colorful, not just design, but also content wise. But in terms of the humor that you use, my first impression is that it won't pass by many readers. It comes off more as inappropriate and not professional. I think you can still write in an upbeat tone without having to make those references in your jokes. Maybe all it takes is toning them down a bit.
