Thought this might be of interest to some.

Catch insights from Obama's fundraising activities much of it from email: Obama-mail

Highlights
  • Top subject line "Hey"
  • Mild profanity "Hell yeah, I like Obamacare" worked well
  • No negative impact from sending frequently
  • Ugly works
From the first two points it sounds like someone's been reading good ol' Georgia boy - Kern.

    I've been testing one word subject lines for a while now and my open rates have improved drastically.

    It's no wonder 'Hey' was their most successful email. That subject line sounds like its coming from a friend so the user is more inclined to click on it.

    I've also been doing some tests with capitalizing the subject as well for example: 'HEY'.

    That's been working awesome aswell for me

      I remember many years ago when George Bush was in office
      having a conversation about whether intelligent internet
      marketing could get a president elected.

      It was an interesting thread and we came to the conclusion
      that combined with other resources good internet marketing
      would almost certainly push a presidential candidate over the
      line in one way or another in a close race.

      Now here we are maybe 6 years later talking about how a
      president used the internet to get elected.

      Maybe we should be more careful what we post about.
