Hey guys how' it going.

I am purchasing an ad space in the classified section of a newspaper that has a circulation of 169,000 and I am looking for some help on the copywriting side.

This will be text only and for the price I'm paying I get:

5 lines and it goes about 28 characters per line.

I have 100% none copywriting experience and am looking for some help/advice.

Background on my ad:
I will be doing a CPA offer for a FREE Iphone 5 - simple email submit.

Here is what I wanted to have in the ad or something along these lines:

Win a FREE Iphone 5 With IOS
100's have won FREE Iphones
Claim yours Now!
Just go to our website below!
Limited Supplies, Please Hurry!

Wat do you guys think?

thanks!

A good technique is to find successful other-media ads for the same promotion and swipe the text.

    For example.

Find a banner (AKA display) ad that's crushing it. Then use nearly the same text in your classified ad.

Or find a very successful lander and swipe the text for your classified ad.

Alex's advice is pretty spot on...Can't see much need to elaborate there.

If you're having trouble finding converting copy for "free iphone 5" offers why not just type "free iphone 5" into Google and see what you come up with? My search yielded too many offers to link to here (about 3.7 billion), so that should give you plenty to study and swipe from.

If you're looking for someone to edit or write your ad for you, you can always post here.

There are some much better ways to research the competition. It's been about a year since I fooled around with CPA, so I don't want to offer potentially old information.

OP - Try asking over on the CPA sub forum.

Thanks Alex...that was not my point actually but thanks again for posting some good advice....even if the OP comes back again and says "that's too hard, can't anyone just rewrite/write my ad for me?"

  • Purely on a copywriting angle because I have no idea what CPA means or does...

Win a FREE Iphone 5 With IOS - (what is IOS? - or I am the only person who doesn't know?)

100's have won FREE iPhones - (be specific how many exactly? - makes it more real)

Claim yours Now! - (Claim it a good word. But are people claiming or winning? - be honest. People will be pissed if they feel all they have to do is "claim and it's theirs." And it's not. You could say how easy it is. Or what the odds are - providing it's not massive. Or leave this line out altogether)

Just go to our website below! - (no need to say "just" or "below" - gives you 2 extra words to use)

Limited Supplies, Please Hurry! (how many and what is the cut off date? - make people do it now)

My initial reaction to your ad is: "What's the catch?" I'm sure anyone reading the ad will think the same thing.

An iphone 5 for free? Really? What's the catch?

I would tweak it to make it more believable and overcome that objection.

The advice above of finding an ad that is working for that same offer and swipe it, is another good idea.
