Why would I want to join a copywriting mastermind group coming from someone I've hardly ever seen or heard of before in this section of the Warrior Forum?

What makes you qualified Robert to run a copywriting mastermind?

What exactly are you bringing to the table?

What copywriting skills do you have?

What is your experience to date?

What benefits are you talking about to position yourself as the best leader for this group?

What is your intended focus and direction with this copywriting mastermind?

I think he was more-so broaching the subject of forming a group then actually suggesting he should run the whole thing.

Since when did we start critiquing the copywriting sub-forum posts as if they were a sales page themselves? The man has an intriguing, extremely beneficial idea (at least for those of us who still feel they have room to learn a thing or two) for the sub-industry as a whole. Maybe taking a few lessons in basic reading comprehension would do you well?

By all means, if you could break down the original post and show me exactly where it was that he said he wanted to run said group - or even remotely implied as such -- I'd be greatly appreciative.

      Thanks in advance!

The thing is most of us are already in copywriting masterminds, even if they're informal. We look at each other's stuff and talk shit and what not already.

If you are an A-lister, people will jump at the chance. If not, then you probably need something sexy to lure others.

My advice is just to hit up guys you admire and talk to them. Most of us are pretty cool about helping out if we know you're serious.

    Mark,

    Please tone it down.

You're acting like a pit bull guarding this section of the forum from all newcomers.

YOU were new here once... did we treat you this way?

    Thanks,

      Tone what down Brian?

What are you seeing in these questions that I'm not? They're simple enough questions.

I was new here once, yep you're right, did I get treated the same as you're purporting? Yep too right I bloody well did. You lot were bloody awful when I first joined up here. I never forgot it. It went on for months on end. Best training I could wish for too.

Okay, let me put it this way Brian since I didn't sell my opinion first time round to best effect.

Robert let me get this straight...

You've read a book how to turn a B level copywriter into an A level copywriter in a mere 30 minutes and now you're thinking, on this basis, about setting up a mastermind group of copywriters to help them, those B level copywriters get up to the next level where the big money is. Correct?

Fair enough, I like your ambition. But...

What makes you qualified to lead from the front this copywriting mastermind? Are you an A lister copywriter yourself?

Sell your idea to me. Sell it to us. What are you offering that I/we cannot get elsewhere from other guys with much more experience in the business?

How will you lead this group from the front?

Why should we join your group or be interested in doing so?

What are the benefits of doing so?

What is there to gain from joining your copywriting mastermind?

      What is the plan?

      What is the goal?

      What is the objective?

Ever hear that phrase "you reap what you sow..."?

What makes you, Mark, presume that he wants to LEAD the mastermind? He never said it. Not what I read anyway. Maybe he's merely asking if anyone here is interested in joining a smaller group to have a regular back and forth on the subject. He's not asking for money. He's not promising to reveal copywriting miracles.

Perhaps the OP could have been more explicit about what the group would be about. It was vague. Your response though rather than tactfully asking the OP for more information came across as more "Who the flaming heck are you buddy to think you can lead a mastermind group?"

Of course this is a forum and you are within forum rules allowed to post as you please. And on that maybe a little more thinking about how your posts come across?

        Just a gentle thought.

Yea, I'm thinking a small, tight knit group that would jump on a Skype call every now and again to review copy.

I don't claim to be a master copywriter, but I have learned a lot from just being in the field, selling products.

I do think it's beneficial to get outside opinions, regardless of your skill level. Plus, with the method that I'm suggesting we would use to review copy, it really doesn't matter your copywriting know-how, in fact in might help it if you can look at it from an objective point of view

Anyways, if anyone is interested I created a Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/472855089438740/

In case you're interested the method comes from a book called Copy Logic by Michael Masterson.

Essentially, the "peer review" aspect of it focuses only on the lead. Using a scale (1-4) you rate how emotionally moved you are to keep reading.

            1 = would stop immediately.
4 = would be excited to keep reading.

The group provides suggestions on what to change, in order to make the copy more emotionally compelling. Then the group rates it as: better, the same, or worse.

A very simple process, but the fact that you're working as a team, analyzing something with only a "gut reaction" to how emotionally compelling it is seems like it would be worthwhile...

Especially, when you consider that a the lead is one of the most important aspects of the copy.

I approve all requests myself, but as for right now, it's open to anyone who wants to join. Thanks to Brian for linking it. Been trying to figure out where the new members were coming from.

Pretty sure he just wants a group to discuss Copywriting related things with a tight-knit group of people in the field.

Sure, there's plenty of discussion here, but there's also a lot of free critique request and a lot of randomness. I think he just wants a group without all of that.

    Hello, Everyone!

I just found this thread... and I was wondering: Does anyone else think Facebook is a major waste of time? :-)

I actually use an app called Self Control to rid myself of it.

Anyway... I've been working as a copywriter and a product launch manager for a while now.

I'm lucky enough to be working with some A list names, but honestly, I didn't have a decent conversation with a fellow copywriter for over a year now, other than the ones I've mentored. I was too busy building my business and my client's businesses, so I just never did any networking.

Today it dawned on me: maybe it's time for me to reach out and start building my connections with my fellow copywriters and product launch managers.

I'm happy to help people and share what I do and how I do it, and I believe I'm able to contribute in meaningful and helpful ways. Some folks with fairly decent copywriting skills have found my feedback useful before.

My specialties are emotions, self-help and self-development, spirituality, real estate, IT, b2b, all sorts of engineerial subjects and business topics.

I'm also very open minded and easy going, and I'm happy to leave my ego at the door and receive constructive feedback and criticism on whatever I do as well.

Does anyone know about a copywriting mastermind on Skype?

If you do, please contact me and let's have a chat. My id on Skype: bencze.racz

Also contact me if you're just interested in joining a group like this... There's nothing to stop us from creating it ourselves! :-)

    Warm regards,

    -Ben Racz

I think you'd learn more from reading a few more of Michael's books or going through his AWAI material.

I've got his "architecture of persuasion" book but I have to say, I found it pretty hard going and not that clear.

The trouble with groups like that is the chances are, there will only be one or 2 people who actually know what they're talking about.

What appeals to me more is a lounge type of video chat room. A place where people can pop in and out of to talk about copywriting, life and anything else that even slightly involves copywriting. I think Google Hangouts is a better medium for this.

I've been waiting to see someone else start one because I've been too lazy to start it myself.

I think it would be great to have a place to go where you could talk face to face with other copywriters / marketers when you wanted. Sometimes just a few minutes of conversation could help your writing process dramatically.

I'm in the Skype group, but that's been just a chat room for me because I can't make their once a week video chat.

Maybe once I get things going next year I will start an ongoing Google hangout room.
