Link Color and CTR/Conversions

I recently went into my slimstat stats to do a little analysis on how my visitors have been acting after I changed my site's link colors from blue to red.

I noted an overall slight increase in CTR. People were more likely to move from article to article via internal links after changing the link color.

I don't know if it's a coincidence or what, so I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiences.

My full update is at my blog, if anyone's interested (the above is the tldr version):

  • Hello there! Thank you very much for sharing your results.

It is always a pleasure to see when human psychology is still working as it should; red colors are exciting and compel people to take action and your shared results most surely support this or at least strongly indicates it.

Blue demands respect and authority but it also makes people calm and considerate which might be good when purchasing very expensive products or services.

I am such a psychology nerdballer that I couldn't resist my eyes off the title "link color", ANYTHING with psychology and I get "turned on" (not that way though, LOL) and must find out more about it.

  • I'm surprised by those results. Traditionally it was blue
underline links that got more click-thrus because that
was the most recognized (standard) color for a hyperlink.
I guess the attention-getting of the red color won over the
    "link-likeness" of the blue.
