I'm starting to get more and more referrals. A discussion in another part of WF about finders fees made me wonder: Do you offer current copywriting clients a finders fee or discount off future services for referrals?

Edit- found these threads which give some insight:

I work freelance for an agency. So I get paid, but they get all the credit for the campaign.

It also means I can't ask for direct referrals as the client doesn't even know it's me doing the work.

Which suits me fine as I don't crave fame. As long as I get paid.

Personally, I've lost count of the number of jobs I've sent to other copywriters.

For the most part, they're either incredibly bad closers or the finders fee they promised me was an empty promise, with one exception...

Arfa Saira has always been good as gold when it came to making good on her promised finders fee. Unfortunately she has been the only exception, so I tend to be very careful these days who I'll personally recommend for any particular copywriting project I'm personally not interested in taking on.

I always pay out 10% of the project cost - the way I look at it, it's one extra job that I would not have otherwise had...

      Absolutely.

      90% of $5,000 is $4,500.

      100% of zero is... zero.
