John Carlton near retirement?

Scott Haines sent an email out to his list today. In the email he was pitching the upcoming Action Seminar and stated,

... you may not have a shot at the other (the Action Seminar) ever again.

I talk to John regularly and he really is semi-retired--going on retired--and loving it.

Alex, Do you know how many marketing gurus have announced their semi-retirement and their retirement and yet are still going strong at their usual level of activity 10 years later? Too many to count. Marcia Yudkin

No, but I'll take your word for it.

Celebrities and sports stars too. :-)

Do it like Becnivenga did it and when you retire, you know you'll get 100+ people to your seminar by whispering your announcement to yourself.

John has been semi-retired for years.

As a Carlton insider I can tell you he is doing very little copy work.

He's doing the Action Seminar and maybe a relaunch of the Simple Writing System but he's bowing out.

The guy is sharp as ever and every bit of wisdom he drops his insiders we gobble up.

    The guy knows his stuff.

Even if he is an old guy.

    (Hope you see this John).

Thanks for the heads up Harlan...

Crap that kind of scarcity is working on me...I might just have to take that little drive down south.

  • Yes, I heard the first ever "talk" Carlton made at a Dan Kennedy seminar.

Kennedy's intro went something like this, "There are very few copywriters I would use but John Carlton is one of them"

      Another Insider Speaks

      This just in.

Bond Halbert has informed his list...

PPS John Carlton really is semi-retired
and it looks like this will be the last time he
will be heavily involved with this event or
      any other.

I spoke to Stan Dahl on the weekend, and he indicated to me Carlton would be doing it for at least a few more years.

Obviously things can change at any time, but I figure if anyone knows what's going on, it's Stan.

Always looking for badass direct-response copywriters. PM me if we don't know each other and you're looking for work.

  • ...could it possibly be the "affiliates" might be using a scarcity tactic to drive up the numbers of good people who should attend the seminar...

It wouldn't be real marketing if they didn't.

Every product I have ever bought from Mr Carlton indicated it "would probably never be done again..."
