BIG mistake marketers make when selling technical products

One of the biggest mistakes marketers who sell technical products make is that they litter the sales copy with techno-babble.

Techo - babble is lingo and terminology that only an expert in the field will understand, leaving the novices wondering what language they're reading!

Selling Internet secrets to technophobe Jo via copy littered with techno-babble isn't going to work as they don't know what you are selling or what it can do for them.

I don't buy products that tell me what I already know and I don't buy products that blind me with techno-babble which pretty much ALL the 'how to market yourself better on the internet' sales ads do.

Technophobes won't read a page for long when they can't understand the terminology.

I started a site a while back for technophobes where I (as a technophobe) broke things down into very basic language so that myself and my reader could understand how to do things creatively on a website/blog and it was very popular as there is a great need for this simplification in the world of the 'web'.

If you as a marketer can learn the not so secret language of the layman you will sell more technical products guaranteed as the people that stand to benefit most are the 'laymen' as the experts are already doing it for themselves. Not always of course, but mostly.

I say grab the great untapped market of the technophobe and start selling!

If you can't break down your copy into layman's terms then hire me to do it for you, I am the master layman

Seriously though this is a good point to consider. I say this as a layperson who can't access these seemingly great products I see advertised as I do NOT understand what they are. I am not alone.

Good point! I remember someone asking me to do "link magic" for their website. What they said was "can you do your link magic so my site can come up on google?"
