The opposite of "copywrong". It's also related to "capybara" and "capoeira", which adds an interesting Brazilian implication (mmm, those Brazilian girls...), and shares roots with "Copacabana", a Barry Manilow song (?) that makes you feel like dressing in a white polyester suit and gold chains and leaving your shirt unbuttoned all the way down.

Or it might be something else altogether. Anyway, it's important to get it right.

      they get everywhere these days.

      Copywriting is simply salesmanship-
      in-print Chris. Writing copy which
creates a strong call to action usually
to buy something or another action,
for example to call this number now.

It's the crafting of words which focus
on key emotions to get the target
market to take a direct call to action.

      You'll see copywriting everywhere
around you not just in print. Radio
      advertisements, tv advertisements,
      newspaper advertising, those
adverts are all written by copywriters.

Copywriters in short help sell more
      product by making the connection
      between the business and the
buyer through the words they use
      to make this connection happen.

      In essence, copywriters are business
growth experts with a massive passion
      for consumer behavior psychology,
      the written word, marketing, and
      connecting people.

      In a nutshell.

      Smoking hot,

Yeah, we're becoming a major demographic in the political landscape. Next thing you know, you'll see one in the mirror, with your toothbrush in his mouth.

True enough - but if you try to figure out what good copywriting is from those sources, you're in for a lot of disappointment and confusion. Although it's often written by people calling themselves copywriters, the greatest majority of it is crap (in the opinion of this brand-spanking-new copywriter, for whatever that's worth.)

If you want to see some examples of good copywriting, take a dig through the posts in this forum. Rick Duris, Bruce Wedding, Joe Ditzel - even some guy named Mark Andrews - hell, I don't want to slight anybody, these are just what come to mind from my own recent reading. But when you see it, you'll know it.
