The one Gary Halbert page that has made me the most money....

I've done a TON of direct mail in the past, mostly for my fitness business.

And now that I'm starting to get more and more clients coming into my agency who want to give direct mail a "whirl", I always find myself going back to two resources:

1. The 12 Month Millionaire by Vincent James (only bought it because Gary Halbert endorsed)

2. The Boron Letters

And I gotta tell you, every time I put my beat-to-sh*t copy of the Boron letters out, it's like I'm a kid at Christmas time all over again.

Hell, just one chapter from the Boron Letters helped me build an entire ad agency.

The Gary Halbert Letter

And ANY copywriter here can use that same chapter to make a ton of money.

Because I've been doing this for almost 14 years now, I have a ton of marketing consultations or "audits" that I've done for just about any kind of business.

So, I've sent out direct mail offers to dentists, chiropractors, plumbers, carpet cleaners, etc.... offering a report they can use to make more money in less time.

I'd get in touch with my list broker and ask for a list of whomever I'm targeting.

Or, instead of a report, often times a mailing would lead to a marketing consultation or a copy gig, whatever.

But any copywriter here can use that one chapter of the Boron letters to approach any market or business to offer your services.

I personally haven't used it yet, but I know infofree.com offers
a $49 monthly membership for leads... and i know they have/had real estate agents, doctors, etc...

so, you'd be surprised how that one chapter of the Boron letters would
still work great today, targeting local businesses in your area.

Send them a letter based on what Gary writes and I'm sure you'd get
some action.

But if you haven't done it, I definitely recommend reading the Boron letters.

Do they offer a PDF? I love my kindle but it's not the same as I can take notes on the PDF and print it (yes I know the letters are free somewhere but I'd like to support them).

Not sure if there's away around this?

That's funny you brought up The 12 Month Millionaire by Vincent James. Probably the most eye-opening thing I've ever read as far as how to scale a DM business beyond your wildest dreams. Of course I've done absolutely none of it, but it makes you think. Both that and the Boron Letters make you think.

But for me it's not the lack of stuff that works. There are a ton of things that work but limited time and energy to do them all... It's good to have it all in your back pocket though for future use though.

      Jason,

I think you hit the nail on the head as to WHY more marketers
      aren't making more money.

Too much sh*t to focus on.

I mean, if you have opportunity A, B, C, D, E, and then along comes
F.... you just GOTTA do all of them, right?

      Bullsh*t.

Find one great idea that you have faith will work, get started
on that, set it up so that it either works or fails, and then don't
move on to anything else until its rolling in dough or time of death has
      been declared.

Overwhelm and lack of focus, in my eyes, are what stops more
marketers from making a lot more.

So, you told it EXACTLY how it is...

In fact, I think what you said right there could solve a lot
      of problems for MANY marketers.

And Brian, you're right... going on Kindle to grab it
is SO worth it in my opinion, because Gary's son (s)
contribute their thoughts as to what they thought
      their dad was saying.

Considering they were written to Bond, and Bond
is giving his insight, it's simply the best $10 you'll
EVER spend for your marketing edumacation.

I agree on the strategy of focusing on one thing until you get it right. Jumping from one hot thing to another means you never get good at one thing before starting something else. have you ever noticed that there are no guides on how to be successful jumping from one project to the next?

Master one thing and really own it.

The late "great" Gary Halbert temporarily had some kind of respect for Vince J. Passafiume. I don't want to repeat here what he said about Vince, but I wouldn't have taken it as a compliment if he had said the same about me.

The book is a wild-ass ride.

Halbert said this about it in his newsletter:

I believe this is (so far in this new century) the most important marketing product ever put together. In it, he reveals a lot of secrets that even I have never before revealed to anyone (except a few clients and my closest friends). His information product tells the story of how, by following my advice (you know I had to get that part in) he grossed $100,000,000 in just 23-months... and how... by NOT following my advice he lost every cent of profit he had made ($48,000,000) in a single day.

Now, I definitely wouldn't put Gary and Vince in the same boat,
Gary's a legend... but if anyone has any marketing knowledge
whatsoever... they can read the 12 month millionaire and realize
that it does contain some useful marketing advice... regardless
      of the author's ethics.

I went through it and tried a $10,000 direct mail run for my
fitness program back in 2005 or so, and it basically broke
even. but i was able to make it profitable simply by selling
the customers more of my programs.

but, i followed it pretty much to the T and found it to be
      useful.

again, much of what was in it, I had learned from just
reading Gary's stuff on his free newsletter.

but i think the 12 month millionaire helped because it
just put it all in one spot to find and read over and over.

you can take the same systems he uses and legitimately and
ethically sell products that help people, and not use the
      forced continuity, etc...

I've bought many products before from so called "gurus"
and they didn't amount to a fraction of the value i got
      from 12 month millionaire.

It sold like crazy, though, do you think it was because of Vince or the copy? I bought it because of the copy. In fact, Vince got me twice. I bought his first product he put out, and, still have the original copy from the magazine. It was that good to me! Maybe, writing everyday gets you numb to the style, but, it works to me.

Hey what do I know. Just my 1 cent opinion.

Funny story about that exact Ebay listing... I saw your posting Mal and
noticed it included a swipe file at the bottom of that letter... where he says...

"Dozens... And Dozens... And Dozens More Ads And Sales Letters - (Totalling
More Than 1,300 Pages) - That Have Made Their Owners Multi-Millionaires!"

Well, imagine my surprise when I ordered this a little while ago to take a look at the swipe file... and noticed that one of my sales letters was in there!

This Ebay listing of Vince's 12 month millionaire had my bodybuilding sales letter I wrote for my simple steps to get huge program!

Now, the funny thing is, the letter that Vince (or whoever threw this package together) included was one of the worst versions... the version I had written back in 2002 or so.

That version sold squat while the subsequent ones sold millions.

anyways, it's quite a surprise to buy a swipe file of the "best ads" and find one of your own in there... without you knowing!

by the way, this swipe file is the same exact one that someone posted a few months ago on the forum here... it was called BonusAdSwipeFilePart1 and it had a cover that said 12mm ad collection.

well, that IS the same swipe file that's in that ebay listing on vincent james.

Hey - I don't know much about the story. How does one go about losing $48,000,000 in a single day?

EDIT: Nevermind, I followed Mal's link. What a shady scouse!
