I need more information, and as always have more questions, ok?

Where are these eBooks being offered?
How are prospects reaching these sites?
Is there an opt in on the carrot?
Who, exactly, is his target market? Men? Women? Both? Young? Old?

What does he offer to his list, the carrot list?

What does he charge for the one for sale? What is unique about his work that distinguishes him from the 101 works on resumes? Or job searches?

See, in order to answer your question, we (or certainly I) need more information because often a correction of one thing, say traffic source, could allow the current titles to soar. Of course TESTING will be the key here.

My background includes operating a thousand dollar a day resume writing service, so I do have some experience in this niche.

As for your headlines, just not enough information to make a decision as to whether to pick up the machete or not. OK?

This headline is unbelievable. Who is going to believe there is a formula that always gets them hired? Bullshit!

Job Hunting Wall Of Shame: 7 Stupid Mistakes

This is lacking in force, clarity and fails to elicite the right feelings. Do your prospects want a "damn job"? hell no.

They want a "dream job" a job they will "love forever" that they feel "appreciated in."

What are you really selling here?

"Do You Make These Mistakes In Your Job Search?"

I think thats a much better headline.

    Hey guys!

Thanks for your responses. Gjabiz, you're right. I need to share with everyone some insights about the market that we're going after.

    So, in short:

32 to 45 men and women, middle managers to c-level executives.

Biggest need: making sure their resume gets them the maximum chance

of getting hired in order to advance their career further.

We also delve into the career transitioning stuff, where peers from that tribe

want to completely change their area of activity. They need a persuasive resume

to be able to stand against other job hunters who may have invested their entire time

    into that one sector.

    The Carrot:

yes, it has an opt-in. The opt-in copy is not published yet, but you can

read a draft here if you're interested!

The book will sell for 17 dollars, but we'll split test different prices.

How are prospects reaching these sites?

I can't tell anything about the presell that we'll run on them since the marketing campaign has not been launched.

    "unique about his work"

The guy's a headhunter himself! And a top one. He currently works for a large company

in Asia focusing on international recruitment.

He really knows what he's talking about.

The book allows the reader to go through a step-by-step process. It takes out

the pain of thinking about the next step, and doubting about the resume outline's correctness.

'hope it's enough for your machete to come alive!

    Thanks for your remarks, maximus!

    İs "7 Ridiculously Common Mistakes

Think about centering the headline around the current state of the economy. That's what unsuccessful job hunters think is their problem.

You exaggerate way too much. Honesty sells much better than bs.

Advertising is useless if nobody BELIEVES your advertising

      Just say the truth:

"Head Hunter Reveals: 7 Mistakes Most People Make When Searching For A Job That Stops Them From Getting Hired"

Copywriting is not about exaggerating to the point of unbelievability. Its about communicating the advantages of a product and getting people to respond to an offer for those advantages.

You can add drama, excitement and intrigue to that - but that doesn't come from exaggeration it comes from being dramatic.

Drama and exaggeration are two different things.

IMO, NO resume is going to get you a C-level dream job. ALL you can hope for is not making dumb mistakes that eliminates your chances from the opportunity of interviewing to sell yourself.

3 it is relevant because the managers believe it is a tough job market

The problem is, at this stage, my client and I cannot focus on hyper focused niches like "managers who want to shift career".

We appeal to other segments of the market that want to keep going on with the same career but want to move up a ladder.

So, we both have career growth and career shift people.

          Thanks for your suggestion, Ewen!

Warriors, you're all awesome All I have to do now is to test the hell out of multiple titles.

    ozanK,

i think you're going about this ALL wrong.

Who gives a **** about the biggest mistakes.

What people care about are 1) getting their resume read, 2) getting an interview, 3) getting to a 2nd level interview, 4) negotiating a good contract.

that's what people really care about.

Also, you should get a little niche, like:

"How to get hired when you're fat, black, & a bitch"

    or

"7 secrets to getting a recruiter to beg you to interview with their clients"

    or

"Weird email subject headlines that get HR recruiters to read your resume, and call you asap!"

    or

"How a 213 lb. mother of 4 consistently gets hired over young beautiful blondes"

    or

you really need to dig hard. a lot harder.

      No

They care about making mistakes. One of the best control packages for this market was written by Gary Bencivenga. The title of the ad was:

"Do You Make These Mistakes In Job Interviews?"

What people care about is getting the job they want.

      People will easily read:

        I like that one.

But, here's the issue, the OP said this is meant for "32 to 45 men and women, middle managers to c-level executives."

Competition is really fierce in this segment.

My OPINION, my assumption, my experience, is that recruiters are looking for great candidates who can differentiate themselves among the masses.

In other words, the person who gets hired isn't the person who makes the least amount of mistakes.

It's the person who sells themselves the best.

And "middle managers to c-level executives" know this.

        Here's are the stages:

        1.) Getting a call
        2.) Getting a phone interview
        3.) Getting an in-house interview
        4.) Getting a 2nd call back
        5.) Getting a good offer

        Here are their FEARS:

1.) Young kids willing to work harder and cheaper
        2.) No attractive enough
        3.) Not educated enough
        4.) Too old
        5.) Not enough skills

Again, IMHO, for "32 to 45 men and women, middle managers to c-level executives.", for the offer you be really awesome, the offer must address the stage at which they are having trouble overcoming, and the specific fear they are feeling.

OzanK, just as a comment, I trust you're not too used to having your work destroyed or
BRUTALLY destroyed. People who do that will one way or t'other find themselves experiencing 'writer's block.' And they somehow can't figure out how it happened. It's my 2 cents on this.

An alternate to criticism by the way - an excellent alternate - is to not just self criticism, but letting the customer help you: by split testing. Hope this helps.
