I don't know what to call this but it's a Marketing Discussion

I've considered some of the different ads that I've seen over the internet and thought I'd pose a question. There's some copy out there (including mine..I'm not a copywriter) that "begs" the prospect to buy. Do you know what I mean? There's so much convincing and persuasion that we might as well just call it begging.
On the other hand there are marketing pieces out there that are stand alone stating "This is who we are" and prospects look at it thinking "They are awesome!" - I'll provide a video example further down.

To me most copywriting feels:
You must be feeling A, B and C if you're dealing with Z issue. Empathy etc...

And then there's stuff like this:
THE O COURSE | Part 1 - YouTube
(not sure if link gets removed...you can also youtube "The O Course Part 1")

Is it because the ideal prospect is so primed and ready to go? But couldn't we
have taken the approach of "...$35 to eat at a restaurant OR $35 to look back having lost 30lbs winning your confidence back knowing you've completed a Military Course."

Your thoughts on this style of marketing communication and possibly the psychology or persuasion tactic behind it:
