I am looking for a writer

26 replies
Dear Warrior,

First of all, I have to say, that English is very far from my native language. So, that is why here and there could be tons of grammatical and stylish mistakes and awkward fails with proper translation. And in the other hand this is a good explanation why I am looking for the ONE with great writing experience.

Second and very important, I am not looking for employee, and I am not offering one-time job. I am looking for the person I could trust, who is really willing to be engaged to my project. So, if the question "how much I would be paid" is rising in your mind right now, just skip this topic.

And finally... Let this version of my "writer looking letter" be the enter point...

I know how proper words and how professional writing brings new life to average sites, and I could only imagine how texts with soul could burn out the project where every pixel was drawn with love.

We (our team) are still developing now and... going to launch insexes very soon. We are all serious and doing it just because we can. We want to express ourselves, to entertain, to create. Everyone in our team is real hard worker professional with years of experience behind, but everyone is open to new learnings... So, we are making insexes, our brand of admire.

I found out, that there are plenty of "writing services"... but I was shocked of how many of them are based on writing/synonymizing software just to pass copyscape tests. They are providing cent per word schemas... okay, it is a simple way for both sides to calculate the cost of a complete job. And no matters, that texts are low quality but extremely overflown with keywords for SEO purposes. Yes, such texts are still doing good job for attracting visitors from googlengines, but they are also making these visitors to close the page as quickly as they can.
To be frankly, I have to say that there are dozen good services on the market.

Why I told all that above?
Because, I am not looking a way to spent money to get some exclusively written content. I am looking for friendly but professional journalist(s)/writer(s) to contribute in my project. But no! No! NO! The truth is, that the project need to get his sparkly voice.

This voice must be clean, charming, interesting and awaiting. This voice could be produced only by artistic, good educated writer, that is going to speak not to MINE site for money, but to HIS OWN site, for himself and his respected readers. Making readers to stop breathing while reading and wait, wait and refresh pages, and asking, to the next cup of the juicy, spicy enough of written pleasure.

I am looking for artistic people... which are willing to go forward, which I could trust. Sure, insexes will bring good dollars in future. But money here is closer to "side effect", because the main idea is just a creation and expressing. In other words, insexes is looking for its chef editor, which is able to manage other journalists in future.

The basics that contributor must have:
- overwhelming desire to write;
- unexplained and undiminishing desire to hard work with us;
- fluent, clean, light syllable, grammatically correct English;
- well-read, and open to new learnings;
- executive, conflict-free, responsible and accurate;
- creative and positive life position;
- open to legitimate criticism;
- available for lifetime collaboration;

- basic knowledge of any markup language is a plus;
- journalist experience is a plus;
- own projects is a plus;

Your objectives:
- writing your own articles for insexes (you will be displayed and annonced as a respective author);
- proofreading and editing;
- essay or review writing;
- writing of cover texts for our reports;
- writing tutorials, texts, based on provided information or drafts;
- creating commercials or "sales" texts;
- researching;
- participation in the site life;

In return, we are offering:
- audience;
- to be the part of the family.
- the name, it means you will be known and respected by readers, and your articles for other magazines will be high-rated. Yes, it is okay if you like to write, and full of ideas!
- we could also help with implementing of your own project.

    If you don't plan on paying someone for the hard work they have to put in, then this isn't the right place to be looking.

    Best of luck,

    Thank you for your notice.
    But after your quotation (that was edited), my idea looks totally desecrated. And it seems that main message was lost at all. To be clear there are no any "not to pay plan". But it is true, that the finance question was moved out of brackets, as I am looking for the ONE who would be interested to participate in my project. And, yes, I am avoiding anyone who is doing his job just or because to be paid.

    Simple answer is "NO".

    I am looking for ONE who's read and understand my whole message in the right way and feel every single world [well, actually, if you could not understand me, how you are going to deal with me?]. Who's first though is "it's me" and the next question is about "how to apply". And may be the ONE who's already looking for such kind of the project to find himself inside.

    And, yes, I am avoiding anyone who is doing his job just or because to be paid. Why? Good question. But it has a simple answer: I do not want money to be a main motivator. I offered much more, instead.

    Sure, I realize that I could end up here with the offer like this:
    ...Here is my $$$$ budget, need these and these texts till Friday...

    1. Unless you are actually looking for a copywriter, then this is not the right section to be advertising in.

    2.
    Estimated load (just to understand the volumes) is: 2 000 words every single day. So if it takes more than an hour then this is not for you.
    You say you want good quality and then you make this statement. 2000 words in an hour AND good quality is impossible.

    3.
    we are not offering any fixed fee or bonuses on startup. But be sure that we would be more than happy to sign a contract later;
    This point looks like you are not willing to pay for work. If you DO want to pay, then you should rewrite this section.

    4. I don't know if you have any actual experience with writing but it seems that your thread is designed to put people off instead of attracting them.

    laurencewins, thank you.

    1. Probably, it is a wrong place...
    2. Yes, my calc says that it is impossible too... it seems that it was chars, not words (I just removed this section).
    3. I just removed this section.
    4. Understand... Sure this thread was created with the best of intentions. And that I am not good in English were first that was said.

    I suggest you think in terms of words. If you think in characters, it is still two types... characters without counting spaces and characters counting spaces.
    Writers think in terms of words and so you'll get better answers.

    Regardless of money being a motivator or not, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a writer who is willing to do all of this....

    - overwhelming desire to write;
    - unexplained and undiminishing desire to hard work with us;
    - fluent, clean, light syllable, grammatically correct English;
    - well-read, and open to new learnings;
    - executive, conflict-free, responsible and accurate;
    - creative and positive life position;
    - open to legitimate criticism;
    - available for lifetime collaboration;

    - basic knowledge of any markup language is a plus;
    - journalist experience is a plus;
    - own projects is a plus;

    Your objectives:
    - writing your own articles for insexes (you will be displayed and annonced as a respective author);
    - proofreading and editing;
    - essay or review writing;
    - writing of cover texts for our reports;
    - writing tutorials, texts, based on provided information or drafts;
    - creating commercials or "sales" texts;
    - researching;
    - participation in the site life;
    ...for NO compensation of any kind, other than the empty promise of having an audience and being "part of the family".

    If you were a major news outlet or company where internships are common, then you would be able to get away with something like this.

    You might have some luck if you gave more details and stronger benefits, but with what you have now, I'm not seeing how you're going to get anyone to take you up on your offer at this point.

    One more thing: Just because someone is motivated by money doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to half-ass your project. If you hired someone who isn't giving it their best, it's not because of the money, but actually from a lack of properly screening your candidates before offering them the job.

    It's all about finding the right people, and that takes effort on YOUR part. If you know what you want, screening potential writers with a fine comb to find who fits the job the best should be easy.

    bhuff85, thank you, and thank you all guys.

    While looking on my "offer" with your eyes, I totally understand your point of view. I also find your suggestions more than valuable. It's all correct from writer's position.

    Funny thing that everyone here is hinting to say about the budget...

    As was mentioned before, I have had bad and good experience with writing services.
    Writing services were asking from $15 to $30 for 500 words, and some freelance writers were asking from $50 to $100 per hour. They were all happy with my money, but I cannot say the same about all their writings. That's why for my new project I need someone really engaged. I am not looking the way to pay less or more. On this stage I am just looking for a writer. This is step-by-step process. I did my step here just for someone who is already looking for such opportunity, and there is no problem for me at all if this particular attempt fails.

    That's all.

      Again, that's where you have to do your part during the screening process. Just "putting it out there" to see who bites isn't good enough.

      In fact, that's a great way to attract the writers you probably don't want.

      Treat your screening process like you would an interview. Find out what their experience is in relation to your project. Grab some writing samples to get a feel for their style.

      You can also make any interested prospects submit a small test project that you put together. Not over the top, but something to give them the chance to showcase what they've got. This will also help you separate the good from the bad.

      The better you are at screening your writers, the lower your chances are of getting a subpar product. I can't stress that enough.

    Thank you for the solid hints and the help.

    And my sincere apologies guys...
    Please, do not think that I have no respect to writers mastery.
    No one is talking that money is not important...
    Please, do not be offended by me in any way.

    I do a great respect to the writing, that is why I am trying to find a great writer to work with. And I want writer to be happy with his work. Not because he would be paid, but because he want people to read him. I want him doing his writings from his soul. But no one could sale his soul. That is why I am trying to move the money out from brackets. I am not even trying to separate...

    I am just talking about that I need a person that willing to contribute in my [specific] project.

    My point of view is:

    1. here is a project.
    Look on it. Determine would you like to be inside it, would you like to write for it.

    2. here is "open position".
    For today we need inside writer/proofreader/copyrighter. Why? I need someone whom I could 100% trust. Why? It takes too much time to deal with freelancers, sometimes the good ones are not available, and it takes time to set up thing with another again. Most freelancers are not very responsible, so at least terms could always be failed. So I need MY Writer. Project needs his voice.

    3. here is a road and opportunity.
    We are going to push our project as mad. I know, that some people are very comfortable with their current position, and they not willing to move forward. That's why I expect that MY writer will grow with our project to editor's/manager's position... And this have to be his true willing too.

    I am not telling here any motivational tales. And may be today I could not accept the highest market bids. But only after these "three" YES we could continue our conversation.

    I am sorry again, I fully understand the "aggression" of people who want to get fair pay for they work and background knowledge. I did not say otherwise. But I am not talking here about money. I am talking here that I need to find a right person who is looking the project to work with.

    The thing about hiring a good writer is that you must convince us that we will make as much or more money working with you as for ourselves.

    A really good copywriter is NEVER without work. If I have a moment without a pressing client job I'm working on my own projects. There is never a downtime.

    Well said Patrick. You hit the nail on the head.

    I advise all copywriters to actually create and sell their own products.

    Not just because it's much easier to work for yourself rather than clients... but for another reason.

    I enjoy writing for clients, because it's pretty darn fulfilling to hear how much you've changed someone's business and life.

    but here's one way you can actually increase your value and worth as a copywriter:

    Help your client make more money in all facets of their business.

    so, instead of being a commodity copywriter... start to look under the hood of your clients' business and see what other areas you can help them maximize profits.

    Maybe their squeeze page sucks and you can help them get more leads.

    Maybe their autoresponders do a horrible job of follow up.

    Maybe they don't have an upsell in place, or maybe they don't have a backend
    product.

    Anyways... the only way to really learn this stuff and get good at making tweaks/changes... is to get in the trenches and do it yourself.

    in other words... create and sell your own products. Starting your own businesses can not only be profitable, it can help you learn the ins and outs of what it takes to be successful.

    And it also helps you to learn how you can have a positive impact on a clients' business.

    That's one of the big reasons I'm all for selling your own products as a copywriter.

    You can take that business knowledge and then use it to increase your worth to future copy clients.

    Instead of just saying "yeah, i can write your sales letter for $1,000"

    you can pinpoint areas of your clients business that you can help... and if you can show them where you can help increase overall profits, you can increase your overall fee.

    Many clients will pay you, say, $1,000 for a sales letter.... but many more will also quickly pay you $5,000 to $10,000 or more if you can help them increase profits in more areas of their business.

    so that's my thoughts on selling your own products as a copywriter... do it for the income streams it can provide you, but also do it so that you're more valuable to copy clients... because you can show them how you can help them increase their profits in all different areas... which in turn will make you more money as well.

    There's a huge difference in fees between a copywriter... and a copywriter who can boost profits in many different areas for a client....

    I believe the OP is saying that he doesn't mind paying any amount that is fair & square provided it's really worth working as a team with the person the OP desires to hire right now. A team spirit is what helps the OP scale up the business quickly as it consistently builds a loyal community of readers who desire to read more creative content with a passion. To accurately describe what Insexes has said over & over again, I hereby would like to passionately write a few quotes:

    "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." (my point here - get the right person on the team who's helpful, useful & humble)
    ― Albert Einstein.

    "Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value."
    - Albert "The theory of relativity" Einstein.

    Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
    - Famous Proverb.

    If value motivates you rather than wealth, money & success to do things that are creatively disruptive on a social note, I really thing this is a great opportunity. Every person is unique & needs to build their own unique brand that can grab attention of loads of people & build not just an engagement but a strong relationship with them that lasts for a lifetime.

    Let me put it this way, you've got to be on your own feet everytime to innovate a new idea & be creative in order to build passionate engagement with readers. You got to be passionate about creative writing, be capable of using the AIDA (ATTENTION - INTEREST - DESIRE - ACTION) FORMULA in your creativity, have a balanced lifestyle & stick around with Insexes for a relationship that could last a lifetime.

    This isn't for people who want to make a quick buck in the short term. Relationship matter relatively for a lifetime. If you've the right goals & the dedication, commitment, will power to contribute creative value to the readers consistently on a day to day basis, this assignment is for you.

    Value pays for itself. I really don't think money is the motivation or the criteria of Insexes for finding the right person for the job. All he wants is value & I can definitely be helpful apart from being useful to Insexes in whatever manner I can. Yes, I can do it.

    I am just replying to your PM Insexes. I had long been craving for a value based assignment than to just be a nobody in the marketplace & just earn my daily bread in exchange for my time & energy which is quite boring actually. I am also starting an e-newspaper site shortly so Insexes can have a look at my ideas as well.

    Insexes, think big, be useful, be passionate about your vision, stay strong, last long & be creative. Be yourself.

    If Insexes has found what he wants, get back to work fellas. Time is life. Build a lifestyle, not just a life.

    Cheers!

    Ronak.

  • I think the main problem with your OP is you never say specifically what you need a writer for.

    How about something like, "I'm starting a new design magazine and need a writer with a backround in art, design and photography."

    Or "We are starting a website focused on nightlife in major European capitals. I am looking for feature writers who have contacts in the music and entertainment industries."

    Or whatever.

    As it is, I think it is still a mystery what your project is.

    Okay, everything in humans live is about to look and feel [happy] sexy.

    - All fitness and weight loss programs are not just for making stunning figures. They are making one to feel light in motion, energy and sexy.
    And if so, you are in success.

    - All earning money guides are not actually about finding a treasure (it's just one of the way to make you feel look and feel [happy] sexy). It's like cold fresh water when you are thirsty. That way coins are helping you to continue your creation or just to get stuff already made by someone else. In other way if you find yourself alone in the middle of the ocean... (I mean you will not be very happy for all the water around). Do you have your gold or do you have your valuable creation? Are you happy?
    And if so, you are in success.

    - All manufacturing products trying to look sexy for the end user. Yes, if something is not sexy, it's not attractive for you. Sexuality is a great energy. ANYTHING that is accumulating or hiding a BIG energy (trained body, deep pow sound, superbikes, forced cars, turbo airplanes) is sexy by default. You want it (it attract you as spectator, or you want to be the part of the process). You want your own source of the unlimited ENERGY, that you are able or enable to control.
    So, when you are on the peak of extreme you are in success.

    Say "in success" aloud. You'll hear yourself just saying "insexes".

    Insexes has seven lucky characters. It's not about numerology power and magic, but there is still plenty hidden things to discover. Insexes is going to be about most sexiest things around, about success and about sexes. It is online magazine.

    So, I am looking for:
    (1) + one who could not only proofread my existing writings for insexes, including some articles, interface/site texts, letters etc; but get and save it's unique spirit. Make me feel that I wrote these texts myself, but with native and fluent language.
    (2) + one who could ghostwrite for insexes. Bring to live existing ideas/scripts/plans. Ask correct questions to get a better understanding of the history as sometimes it could be very detailed instructions, sometimes only the raw idea and materials, make sales copy... etc.
    (3) + one who would like to be independent author or journalist of insexes (about.me). Your own content would be published on our pages. It's not a guest blogging, it's something from inside, it's your creative for yourself, for your reader.
    (4) + one who could select, guide and manage other writers. Determine the future course, bring and share with new ideas. Yes, it's chief editor's position.

    If 1 and 2 could be easily outsourced for fixed and fair price, 3 and 4 cannot. It is long run. That's why I just want to build trust relationships from very beginning. And finally... You should be full of energy you'd like to share with others... I am not looking for a passenger I am not looking for a professional that I should pay just because he is already a professional. I am looking the hot driver in writing element who'd like to ride a dream car.

    I am looking for a writer from the beginning. Just to let him be the (co) author of the book of making insexes (I am sharing the life story with all fails, ways out, and wins). Once, insexes become a brand, the book will be published...
    So, it's not money making machine itself, it's a journey.

    P.S. We are launching soon.
    More information would be available at insexes
