the one thing I think about most when writing copy...

Now, this is just my opinion... it's what has helped me when writing copy over the last 14 years... maybe it will help you.

I try to keep one thing in the forefront of my mind when trying to sell something.

** How can I make my prospect FEEL the hope I'm trying to get across in my writing.

Because in all honesty, that's the ONE thing you're selling almost every single time, with every single product or service.

You're selling hope... hope that the product will help them.

Hope that tomorrow will be better than today.

Hell, that's the only thing that kept me going over the years.

I remember buying just about every single "make money" gimmick when I was in my 20's.

It was the hope that I'd find one that worked. (of course, MOST never did)

Even when I started making a sh*tload of money online... I still had hope.

Hope I could help as many people get in shape and change their lives with my fitness programs.

Then, when I hung my copy shingle out... hope I could help clients improve sales.

Then, when I started coaching other copywriters... my hope because that I could help them land clients, get better at writing, make more money, etc...

I personally try to link everything I write in my copy back to showing the reader that there's HOPE for them.

Hope is a very powerful factor, it's what keeps most people moving forward... the hope that everything will get better.

Why does the acne sufferer try out the new lotion? Hope that it will be gone and they can live their life again.

Why does woman who just gave birth order the newest diet program? She hopes it will get her pre-pregnancy body back.

Why does the unemployed guy order the "take surveys at home" program he read about? Hope he will improve his financial situation.

Hope for a better life, less problems, and more happiness really can be tied into most products and services.

So, in my copy... I really try to write so that I can show my prospect there's hope... how ordering will make their life better. How this can solve their problems.

I truly believe that without hope, we're done living.

That's why when I write my copy... I try to use phrases and paragraphs that instill that sense of hope in my prospect. I don't want them reading my copy, I want them feeling it, that there's soon going to be hope again for them.

Anyways, this mindset has helped me... maybe it will help you?

Hope is powerful. It can keep a man or woman moving forward - when everything about their life experience feels, well, hopeless. You can't look at what is and expect better results. Hope is the concept that lights up the imagination and activates a whole slew of sensations/emotions inside of the body - so you can see beyond the obvious.

If you're in sales, it's your job to help your prospects see the hope in their circumstances, because that lowers their resistance and gets your solution into their hands, faster.

    Nice post Shawn.

  • It's also real.

If you tout a huge big unbelievable promise - then the good people feel the hype.

Much better to get them to feel the hope.
