What can happen when you swipe too close to the bone...

BuzzFeed Writer Resigns In Disgrace After Plagiarizing

- Rick Duris

PS: Speaking of swiping, try this for your next email subject line:

I suspect it'll wake up a list.

Marketing is not a battle of products. It is a battle of perceptions.

"I haven't been totally honest with you..." is a cool lead in.

What happened at that link after they texted that is hilarious.

There are good ideas for headlines everywhere.

My favorite was on the cover of a women's magazine when I
was checking out at the supermarket...

"Is Your Hair Making You Fat...?"

    The mind boggles.

    Kindest regards,

Here's what might work better in certain situations....

Sending the first email, with "I haven't been fully honest with you" as the email subject line.

Keep it short and to the point. Evoke curiousity in the body copy. Maybe something like "I'm still debating. I'll be in touch."

    And leave it at that.

Then send an email later on or maybe the next day with the subject line "re: I haven't been fully honest with you".

I think the secret sauce is in the delay.

I think that is what Rick meant by "too close to the bone". You are not taking
the general form when you do that.

We all make mistakes. I hope that the writer recovers from this
      mishap.
