... I've been a selfish prick and kept this guy all to myself. This guy can write. Check it out. 99c on Kindle (and if you don't have a device just download the reader). Don't know him. No association whatsoever. But really dig the way this dude writes. Info is solid too - on Kindle Publishing.

Leave him a review. I did. I wish him all the luck in the world. Love this. Won't take you long to read it either - 20 minutes maybe. Unless you're a dunce.

    Hey Mal,

Thanks for the heads-up. Just downloaded it into my Kindle, and will read it later today while I am on the exercise machines pretending to be a hamster on a wheel.

    Mal,

Checked out some of the reviews. (Not that I'm fretting over whether to spend $0.99.)

One fellow (David) gave it a fairly comprehensive review (and 3 stars)...it'd be very instructive and interesting to hear your take on his comments:

"Why I find this book overall contradictory:

    - Throughout this short book, and right with the first sentence, he proclaims: "You son of a bitch, I'm going to make you rich" - through selling eBooks!?! OMG, when will internet marketers stop claiming this never-ending nonsense?!

    - This is the typical Apollo-rocket hype of an internet marketer - lacking all substance. At the moment I am writing this, his book's sales rank of 8,379 suggests it is selling a mere 360 copies a month. At 35 cent royalty (99 cent book price) his earnings from this book amount to the mind-boggling wealth of $126 a month. Not even the unemployed would dare to call this "rich". Not even after say 10 years of getting this monthly income (IF the book lasts so long).

    - By HYPING the eBook publishing via kdp he (like 82 other "kdp" authors currently as well!) actually UNDER-delivers on his promises, claiming such nonsense like "passive income" (doesn't exist, you work first, like in every other job), and "getting rich" ($126/month??). Make it 100 books like that, it's still ridiculous."

As you mention his style is like Hunter Thompson's, I could see picking it up for that alone. Love his stuff. "The Great Shark Hunt" is one of the greatest collections of journalism ever, IMO. His voice is so clear and engaging.

I grabbed the book (Thanks, Mal!)

And it just as well might have been about gardening.

I don't care about publishing ebooks one bit. But the writing is brilliant. Actually, it pushed me to redo a video script I was working on. Came out better, too.

So for $0.99 and 20 minutes of my time I got A LOT of value out of it

Just finished reading it. Superlative recommendation Mal! Like the others, I don't care much about getting rich off of ebooks, but it's his exciting writing style that I'm digging.

    And his great moniker

    Thank you again!

    Mal,

The unfortunate thing about this is... someone may look at the 99 cent price tag, buy it, quickly scan it, not really put much thought into it, and move onto the next shiny new toy.

But those who read it, REALLY think about how to use his ideas to SPRINGBOARD into upsells/backend/affiliate sales... this one 99 cent ebook could be worth a fortune.

thanks for the find, i read it once and thought... Huh, is that it. I read it again and thought.... sh*t, if someone can't turn this 99 cent investment into at LEAST $9900 within a month or two... maybe they shouldn't be in this biz.

Grr, freakin' STUPID Amazon. For some reason, they decided I live in the Ukraine (???), and wanted to charge me 2.99 for this book. Took a bit to figure this out, but with all these good reviews...

Got it. Read it. Yep; a fun, high-speed read. And it's already been of use, too - I'm currently stuck in defining my product's USP (man, that can be a bear of a job!), and it just got me another tiny step further forward. I'm sure that I'll be squeezing more value out of it, too; I've got a KDP account, and have at least two books that I wanted to launch, but wasn't connecting all the dots.

    Thanks, Mal!

      Hey Ben,

I read the section where you mentioned you're stuck creating your USP... and it's cool you wrote that because so many marketers do not put the time and effort into doing that.

Not sure if it will help, but for what it's worth... here's a thread I wrote about USPs a month or two ago.

      http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...-your-usp.html

The real "ah ha" moment for me was... I was ALWAYS trying to find my USP based on what I had done in the past, or was currently doing.

In other words, what makes me different.

But the breakthrough for me was, I realized that i COULD CREATE or manufacture my USP... it didn't have to be something I was currently doing.

It could be something I WANTED to do ... that i wasn't doing yet.

In other words... invest your USP based on what your market wants badly... and you can also provide them.

Take a look around at your competition. what are they doing?

Now, think of what you can do better... and make it something your market wants SO BAD.... and have THAT be your USP.

It's kinda like how many different companies decide on how to create products.

they look at the market and find demand that's not being met yet.

well, you can do this with your USP.

find something that's not being done.... something so valuable that will make you different/better/unique over the rest... and start doing that.

      Bingo... there's your USP :-)

Shawn, that was actually the post - along with the Paul Hancox course that I'm taking - that made me realize just how critical having an explicit USP is. Thank you; I've taken that lesson to heart.

As I'm sure you know, one of the early stages in learning a new skill (after learning the "what" part) is "OK, now what of all that stuff is important, and to what degree?" That's where I am right now. I have a huge intake capacity for data - I've already snarfed a tremendous amount of material on copywriting, and am taking in more as time goes on - but what's missing right now is the structure stuff. I'm pretty sure that I've got where a USP fits into all that, both in defining it for a client and in defining it for myself.

This actually adds another dimension to the standard process of "looking for a hungry crowd" and giving them what they want... interesting.

Darn it, now you've got me rethinking all three corners of that (what I'm offering, the "crowd" that's starving for it, and my USP.) More work... gee, thanks.

(No, seriously - awesome insight territory here. And it's made me think really, really hard about my product and what I'm actually offering, the benefits behind the benefits. Looks like I need to define both my USP and my product even better than I have - especially to myself.)

        Thanks again.
