Definitive Guide vs Yearly Piece

I am working on a review for a product that is seasonal and becomes popular during 2-3 months of the year.

When trying to create a great resource for buyers of them item, what factors should I consider when deciding between creating a yearly review vs. a definitive guide that I update every year?

You probably won't know what works best until you start. A definitive guide might get better SEO as a single page, while a yearly review might seem more relevant. There's no reason why you can't do both, either! (It's not exactly double the effort- you can reuse information from the new annual guide to update the definitive one.)

The more I think about it though, the more I think I'll just update the guide each year. Seems tidier and easier. Is there any reason why anybody might want access to guides to earlier years?

No I don't think so. Merchants do update their offerings each year, so only the latest products would be relevant. Thanks for the advice!
