Full page advertorial from today's newspaper...

It's made up of a number of articles and is the new expanded version of James Direct's old 1/4 page vinegar ads.

Half page advertorial from today's paper. This time the subject is hydrogen peroxide (instead of vinegar).

    I love the layout.

I can't read the copy, I can barely make out the offer, is it a $19 + shipping offer for a book/report?

Great swipe material for an advertorial layout!

    Thanks for posting.

    I've always loved advertorials.

It makes it look like a newspaper reporter that thinks they've discovered the best thing that's come along in quite some time.

    People love a good "Story"

    Thanks for the swipe Mr.S

Thanks Mr. Subtle. James Direct is a small company in N Canton with a handful of employees doing great in old world ads.

It should beg the question of those of you who push the concept you have to be either an authority or have great passion for your product...how did JD become the expert on Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide?

Maybe he read Vermont Folk Medicine by Dr. Jarvis which was republished by SCI, maybe.

These ads show how to take a mundane household product which has folklore attachments to it and turn it into a viable product. No need for either passion or expertise, just a little research and a good ad.

My only criticism of JD is they don't do a good job of follow-up with their buyers, of which I am one. Reminds me of Green Tree Press of years ago, who also had poor follow-up and neglected back-ends.

Thanks Mr. Subtle, I love this little company.

PS. He is actually in Hartville, OH now.

The layout of the advertorial positions Emily as a celebrity/authority figure.

How does one become the authority? By writing a book.

Once you are an author of a book, you are the authority and as for celebrity, there is no measurement for that, so anyone who is known in any field, even by only a few people in that field, can be a celebrity.

This lady, the Vinegar and Folklore Medicine expert, draws from her collection of folklore remedies ... so, expertise is in the promotion presentation.

Thanks Mr. Subtle. As a copywriter/marketer you might be interested in following a new product coming out. Set your alerts for Joe Namath Cooker.

You see a multi-channel marketing effort which includes TV long and short infomercials, full page ads like the one here as well as other marketing efforts.

Follow along to see how one successful company promotes a new product using a celebrity endorser, and I can tell you this, more than one copywriter is going to make a significant chunk of change for their contributions to a successful campaign.

ALL of the ads that will be used to sell this new product have come from copywriters. See how this campaign does and keep your copywriter's eye on the ball.

So get alerts set; Joe Namath RAPID COOKER.

Do you mean copyRighted? I can't speak for Mr. Subtle, but if you clarify your question, I might be able to help out.

What exactly do you want to know, if you can create a similar layout? Or borrow the copy? Or what?

"An ounce of hydrogen peroxide is worth a pound of cure"

How do you measure cures in weights?

Anyway, it's such an old saying by such an old looking woman is anyone going to take it seriously?

Worse than that it's poppycock selling snake oil - so are we bigging up a crap sales pitch selling a crap product and marvelling at how it's (supposedly - although I doubt it) ripping off loads of people?

I be twhoever ran that ad is seriously out of pocket, and they deserve it too.
