How long would it take for you to write an ebook for publication on Kindle?

  • Depends. How long is the book? What is the topic? How much time would I need for research? Is it fiction? Then there needs to be time to edit, proof and format.

It could be anywhere from 5 days to 2 months or more.

P.S. The copywriting section of the forum is not the best place to ask this question.

    • As Rose mentioned, there are many variables to consider here.
Fyi, it took me eight days to write a ~7,000 words employee handbook back in March - and that was done with access to an existing manual-of-sorts and a HR manager who was just a phone call away.
  • Depends on what you're writing about. If you're writing something that you've been thinking and talking about for years, then it might barely take you as long as it takes you to simply type the words out. If you're writing something you're not too familiar with, you could work on it for years.

Realistically, I think a eBook shouldn't take you more than a 2-3 months to write. Longer than that and there's a strong possibility, I think, that you're falling into the perfectionist trap.
  • I wrote the ebook in my sig in a few hours.

It's only 13 pages but the information contained within can save you $100's and even $1000's over several years if you use it.
  • if you have knowledege in the area already you can write on in a day or so.
