  • Anything Brian puts out is useful, in my opinion.

Hell, if you read the interview for JUST THIS LINE alone... it's 100 times worth it...

"Never assume the reader will connect the dots in your copy – they often can’t/won’t/don’t. There’s no higher aim than clarity, you’ve got to be explicit about what you’re saying and what you want the reader to do in possession of this information."

    Bingo, solid gold.

And the thoughts about Apple... those are 3 thing that Brian listed that any company can use to distinguish themselves.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who loves staying up late at night... it's when I get a lot of my best work done...

  • I would listen to Brian reading out the friggin' phone book!

    Actually, I wouldn't. I'm being hypey.

But I bet this interview is worth a listen because Brian is a very knowledgeable and talented dude. Who writes very skillful conversational copy IMHO.

When I started out in this biz and knew virtually NO-ONE Brian was kind enough to get on the phone with me for a while and make me feel like I belonged.

We never forget the people who encourage us. People like Brian.

    So go listen!

    • The door is now wide open folks.

Copywriters are free to promote their own blog posts on this sub forum.

Have you thought what this sub forum will become if 10, 20, or more copywriters also do it?

      Not good.

  • Ha. You're definitely not alone Shawn... I'm sure many breakthrough promos have been written in the late night hours.

Glad you enjoyed the interview - a lot of good stuff from Brian. Re-reading it just now, this stuck out to me as a very wise point:

"...whether you’re writing to a person who will be reading your message on a piece of paper in their hand, on a computer screen or their phone, on TV, on their iPad, in the car on the radio… you’re still talking to ONE HUMAN at a time."

    Worth remembering.

  • I met Brian in San Diego earlier this year. We sat in the back at Carlton's Seminar, breaking down sales pages on his laptop.

And I gotta tell you. I learned more from his angry rants. Than I did almost all the speakers.

If you ever get the chance. Put a beer in that guy's hand and let him ramble.

    You won't regret it.
