Is copywriting art or science or both?

I'm just curious what's your take on it.

    Both.

Science, because there are known persuasion elements that have proven to work time after time.

Art, because there are many different ways to express the persuasion elements and string them together into a cohesive sales presentation.

In my view, it's mostly analytic. However, there is a very strong element of creativity required, too. So the best answer is probably that it's BOTH.

Yah, I agree, it's both. An art because you have to create a unique way to really express the product / service in a robust way, and - I have mentioned the word create - you do this scientifically.

If you use split testing and analytics it becomes a science (whether you think it's good or not, the figures reveal the truth). If use intuition alone then you could say it's art. Ultimately, the best results come from combining both.
