Newsletter copywriting

I'm thinking of starting an investment newsletter, are there any books I could read that directly tackle the problem (or at least tackle internet newsletters)?

I have some sales experience. I'm a complete neophyte in copywriting,

  • Like all products, you'll have to find a way to differentiate yourself in a crowded market. Best to focus on a tight niche and dominate it.

Craig Garber talks a lot abuut how to market with newsletters in his book

Gary Bencivenga did some of the best investment newsletter copy I've ever seen. Check out Lies, Lies, Lies for example.

Hi! My eyes got big when I read your question because I have what I consider the most helpful book I've ever read on the subject of copywriting. That's saying something because even though SEO copy is my primary contribution, I often take up the slack for sales copy as well, so that means I research the subject like a fiend.

Anywho. The book is called "Advertising Secrets of the Written Word" by Joe Sugarman.

The great news is that for some reason, his book is available to download in PDF format (even though it's super expensive on Amazon).

I don't want to post the link here because I'm new and not up to speed on the forum rules - you can pm me if you need any more info.

See if you can track down any of Gary Halbert's sales letters that sell his newsletter. They are excellent sales letters to model.

For me I follow the 3 structure rules I've learned from Bill Glazer.

Your newsletter should be divided into 3 parts:

    1. Relevant Content
    2. Semi Relevant Content
    3. Non Relevant Content

This structure has served me well for my clients and for my business. Also the newsletter doesn't have to be very many pages to add value.

Start small and as need presents itself increase quantity of pages. You also want to sell ad space in your publication for additional revenue streams and primarily you will have a following the other businesses want to have their business name in front of.

So strategically think content and who wants to be in front of your readers that is willing to pay you to be there.

Investment newsletter subscriptions are driven by the
very best direct response copywriters alive.

You have Clayton Makepeace behind Weiss Research.

You have a gaggle of in house copywriters at
    different divisions of Agora.

To compete against them, you'll need a stellar track record and
partner up with a hungry copywriter who sees merit in what you've got.

    Best,
    Ewen
