Hey ya'll.

just finished watching perry belchers secret selling system. great course btw.

in one section, he essentially mentions making your offers simpler, less points of belief to make the thing sell better.

Something I'm looking at with my own offers... and seeing what I can improve to test.

I'm looking for some great offers.

The niche doesn't matter.

Here's what I'm looking for: Stuff that when you see the copy, or watch the VSL, you gotta buy it... regardless of whether or not you think you can do it.

Anyone?

thanks in advance :-)

Dave, have you seen what Perry and partner Ryan Deiss
are doing with all their businesses?

They are all using a multi-step process.

The biggie is, before the core offer is presented,
people have to buy a low dollar thing first.

They follow up pushing that trip wire offer for a few days.

If they still don't buy it, they are presented with another trip wire offer.

They don't get to see the core offer untill
they buy that low priced offer.

    Typically $7 if they are selling a $47 e-book.

Weird how they activated a dead list of subs.

They couldn't move the needle after redoing the VSL
So they took out the bonus offer in the core product and offered that
    as a $7 product.

    The list size was 113,636

They sold $69,482 in 30 days of the $7 product.
On the upsell page they sold $119,192
worth of the $47 product over same time.

The crazy thing was the list had been hammered
with that main product offer before!

    The upsell uptake was 30%.

After stumbling onto the low offer first then the core offer
method, it took them from doing 35k per month to 250k
    per month in 3 months.

Now they are doing 800k per month after adding more products
and low point offers to lead new people through their funnel.

All their businesses, digital and pyhsical too,
are offering low ticket price, really great deal on it
before their customers get to see the main product/products.

    Best,
    Ewen

Dave, I'm 100% on board with you when it comes to keeping it simple
    and to the point.

Something I'm noticing that's having a huge positive effect in my copy and conversions... is I'm focusing more on the UNIQUENESS aspect of the offer now, more than anything else.

So, the copy is shorter, but there's a huge focus on what makes this offer unique and stand out compared to what else is available.

I took a course recently that highlighted THE most successful companies in the world... and one of the biggest factors in their success: they all focused on one huge uniqueness in all their products and services.

So, I think that goes inline with what you're saying... being simple and highlighting what's really important.

Now, I know this is probably overkill and doesn't really help you here, but the first time I saw Gary's retirement letter, I swear I read it 3 times in a day and was amazed even more each time...

Agreed. A few years ago I wanted to be able to study copywriting all day, even when I was doing other stuff. So I recorded a bunch of Halbert letters, some Carlton's stuff, and several Bencivenga letters. This letter always stuck out to me. Its flow is sort of hypnotic. You can really hear it when it is read out loud. He writes these long poetic lines, and then changes up the rhythm suddenly, like this:

"I smoked cigarettes back then, and I'd light up one after another. I'd curse my deadline. Curse my fate. Curse the stupid product I was trying to sell. Rearrange my desk drawer. Make a phone call. Read a magazine. Grab a snack. Wonder what else I could be doing at that moment and, for that matter, with my whole life. This would go on for hours, sometimes days, until my copy chief would inquire, "What the #%*! is taking you so long?"

Da da dum, da du dum. Da da. Da da. Da da. Da dad dum. Da da. Da da. Daaaaaaa da da da da. Da da da da da da da da. DA DUM da dum DA DUM dum dum.

Like music haha I love it.

Yeah, I marvel when copywriters like Gary can make such brilliant writing APPEAR to be so simple and easy... when you know damn well they meticulously thought over each word.

It IS hypnotic though, you're right.

I try to have my copy have a catchy rhythm as well...

Usually something like Sir Mix a Lot... "I like BIG butts and I cannot lie...

It just rolls off the tongue!

I'm not a Copywriter so I will answer what he means.

Because you are all in the habit of writing every last little thing you can you oversell.

You want me to believe it is true by making too many belief statements which actually starts to lower my belief.

If I eat one banana I derive satisfaction. And the next one and the next one. There is a point that will be reached called diminishing returns where by even though I like bananas I start to not like them. The pleasure derived becomes negligible.

It is a principal of Economics if any have studied Economics.

All large companies will be au fait with this fact.

Over use of benefits is quite common too.

Most people in any field searching online are already aware of the benefits that product/service will provide.

Think of someone buying a car. I know exactly what car I want from research, I know exactly what what features I would like and why, what colour etc. I also have checked out the price so have a 10% either way idea and I have researched a few local garages to see what their reputations are. I have the money or finance option already sorted in my head and know the rates I can get if I go finance.

So by the time I walk in it is really a sale to lose as it was made prior to me stepping into the place.

So sales people who spend too long talking about benefits can lose sales now.

This actually makes it easier to sell because you do product dem, features, couple of benefits and really focus on the why buy from us.

After sale customer service is where they are moving to now.

      Just tell a great story.

      Dan

PS: That is my non Copywriter stab at things. Might be completely wrong as to what he meant.

ross... think the way i took it at least.... was

lets say you have 3 modules or steps for your thing to work, thats 3 points of belief the person has to have.

    my main niche is dating.

so the guy has to believe each one of the points/modules/steps in order to think they can do it as well.

I'm asking them to believe they can do those 3 things to get the results.

he was i think suggesting to simplify this, thus making it seem easier for the prospect to believe they can do it too.... and ultimately to get the sale.

for me, I'm taking a long hard look at my offer section of my vsl.... and seeing how complex it is... how on point it is... etc. what can I simplify, or make more powerful.
