And here's what she says about herself...

"Yes, this scruffy mental oriental sold £35,000,000 of new cars in the UK in 2008 -
unbelievable, but quite true."

Rick, I wouldn't change a thing on it because I
it's a brand she is now known for.

It has a tell others about it effect as is.

Also it is the polar opposite to the more corporate
car leasing companies, therefore doesn't blend in.

Are you of the same opinion?

      Best,
      Ewen

Check out the mobile version of her site.

She's got a special message for iPhone users.

That's if you get past the first page...it looks like a mixture
of 60's physcodellic days and Arnie.

        Best,

First time I saw this site a while ago, my first reaction was WTH?

And it still is, to some extent, but some things stand out.

    1. It's different.

    2. It includes clear instructions on what to do.

    3. The site builds a personal connection with Ling, and uses "damaging admissions" like "Oh, I'm hotheaded. I get angry easily and then I shout." Gee, I never would have guessed.

    4. It makes fun of itself: "Play stupid game - New!"

    5. The site doesn't try to pussyfoot around and "build trust"... she comes right out and says "You can trust me, and here's why..." followed by proof.

    6. And try reading the testimonials, they are pretty funny. Irreverence rules throughout this site, making it entertaining (even if you do sprain your eyeballs).

All in all, a fun site, but with some solid information too. After slogging through a pile of steaming car dealer sites, no wonder this one gets attention... and sales!

Wow, it's a long time since I've seen her.

She appeared on Dragon's Den over here in the UK (Shark Tank is of the same franchise) in 2007:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtib4WZW_4M

I'm sure the nationwide marketing she got from her helped her.

She's certainly kooky... I like it.

P.S. I still have no idea how to embed videos... would be great if someone could.

Just remove the 's' from the 'https' part of the URL when you post it to WF. It will embed itself.

Virtually every time Shark Tank features someone who was on the show, even when they don't strike a deal, to see how they're doing now, the first few words you'll hear them say are:

"Ever since we were on Shark Tank our sales have exploded."

So let's not assume that her crazy web site is the thing behind her success. It's maybe the most visible, noticeable, different, and that's why it's so easy to point to and say "must be that"...

And logic would deem that if her website was a turn off she wouldn't be successful - but that makes the cognitive error of presuming a website is the big determining factor behind her business and making her sales.

Just as Donald Trump's hair and boisterous opinions aren't what makes his real estate holdings profitable.

I like these Dragon and Shark shows, but they seem a little white bread to me. They need more minorities. Maybe Ling could be a panelist now.

lol ... that's not the first outrageously ugly, outdated site that I've seen that was highly successful. Amazing.

    from the video above:

"Ling, what on EARTH is with the advertising on the Nuclear Truck?"

"...this was very close to Darlington originally, but the Council forced me to move it."

"Year, Councils are terrible like that."

    [Laughter].

If you could measure peoples dopamine receptors when they land on that site I'm sure it would mimic the effects of cocaine.

The second I landed on that site my brain kept saying "leave now, stop, just close the page IMMEDIATELY" but my fingers wouldn't move. And I found myself in a very weird situation. The logical side of me wanted to close out the page, but the core of my brain... the reptile that sleeps within... immediately woke up & became glued to all the flashing / spinning / pulsing / shaking / vibrant colors.

In a weird way... I almost feel violated now. Like I've been eye raped.

Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaa!
This reminds me of this car salesman in California that sold cars all the way from there to Alaska. His commercials were in all of those states and one of them wound up in the movie "Down and Out in Beverly Hills" with Nick Nolte and Bette Midler.
